They serve you drinks while waiting in line to order your food, what more could you ask for? The por que plate has variety and quality and the corn tortillas are delicious!

Delicious and Authentic Mexican food with plenty of outdoor seating. Great neighborhood spot. We went for brunch and the food was truly outstanding. Great for a large group. Easy to get to and they have off street parking.
Hawthorn location. Excellent guac, salad, and chips - all home made and so good, we ordered a 2nd round. I enjoyed the Pescado #2: Fish was crisp, not greasy; the slaw had minimal dressing and added a nice flavor to the fish. Others in our...group had the spicy cucumbers and stated they were very good. The raspberry/pomegranate juice was good and not overly sweet/syrupy - more refreshing and light. GF and no issues with cross-contamination on the shellfish. As with many Portland restaurants, sitting is minimal but they do have seating in the back. We'll go back - that's the recommendation in a nut shell.More
Went for dinner. The service was quick and friendly. You ordered right away when you walked in the door. The location is well situated. The food ratings are below: Rice and Bean Bowl- 9.2 Strawberry Margarita-5.3
Not sure what the hype is about. I’m not picky or hard to please when it comes to taco places. The food was bad, the staff was bad, and it’s way overpriced. Tacos were actually awful. Had absolutely zero flavor. Just salty meat thrown on...a soggy tortilla. EXTREMELY salty. I’ll let the fact that it was cold speak to the front of house staff rather than the cook. I’ll explain. The staff couldn’t find my order for some reason. I showed up at exactly the time it was supposed to come out. I walked up to the take-out counter and announced my presence to the worker, who was busy with something else, just so they knew I was there. They looked at me but didn’t acknowledge me, apparently they weren’t responsible for take-outs. I waited in the pick-up line which was crowded because apparently this is where people also order drinks? Someone came and stood next to me and they were helped first. Annoying but no problem. After he got his food I spoke up and said I have a pickup as well. The take-out guy looked for it and then turned to me and shook his head. So I backed up and stood out-of-the-way and waited another minute. Someone came and asked me if I had been helped. I said I had a take-out and it hadn’t come out yet. They asked me if I had a number, I said no. So they told me that if I would just go form a line at the take-out counter, which I was standing 2 feet away from, someone would come help me faster. Then she walked away and started speaking to someone else before I could even reply. So I said, “Well I could just leave” which got the attention of another employee who asked what I needed and looked for my order. It turned out the order had been sitting right there the entire time! So I happily paid and left. I was polite and calm the whole time. I don’t normally write reviews, typically it’s only if an establishment really makes me regret giving them my money. And this place practically ruined my night. $16 for four little tacos, which were gross compared to any taco truck in Portland, bad service, rude employee that tried to make me feel like it was my fault I hadn’t been helped yet. Again, I am NOT hard to impress, but those tacos were disgusting.More
I loved everything we had! We had the shrimp, steak, Jamaica, and the brownie. Make sure to bring a sharpie!
We had Chicken Tacos and they were YUM! It was 20x better than Taqueria Los Gorditos. The pick up was easy and also the parking. The ordering was also very simple on their website.
Wife and I stopped in for lunch with a friend. Ala carte menu with many selections. Beer was cold, tacos were good, chips were crisp. The ladies thought the salsa a bit hot, but I really liked it. I would definitely go back.
I guess I still prefer the food trucks because this is Portland. It’s just with this town is known for. The tacos you’re a very good staff a very friendly, with quick service. Can’t say it is my favourite, but it’s a really good place...to eat.More
My fiance' and I love to go to Por Que No for a casual lunch or dinner! The lines are typically really long (out the door!), and often times its challenging to find somewhere to sit. It might not be the best place for larger...groups. We always get tacos, and chips + quac. Despite the long lones and tight seating, we love the atmosphere and will continue to go back! It is a little on the pricey side.More
This place is always busy for good reason! The food is very fresh, hot and made to order. The tacos are the best with many varieties to choose from. Much of the food is locally sourced and sustainably raised/caught. There are some but not a...lot of choices for vegetarians/vegans. The Horchatas are homemade and delicious. Try to stop either before or after peak lunch times for quicker service and a more relaxed atmosphere. You will want to come back often.More
Can’t believe it was my first visit. Food, service and atmosphere great. I knew I was in for a treat when I drove up to see a line of people dressed from jeans to suits. Don’t worry the line goes fast. Had tacos carnitas. So...good. Give it a try!More
My definition of hole in the wall. Line was down the street about 25 minutes wait. Decorated in mexican style with music too. Place is NOT for those who need space. Our meal of four was sixty including one drink and extra chips and salsa...and tip. Carne asada was the best, would go againMore
This is a small and cozy place. The help was quite helpful and pleasant. Nice decorations. My wife had 2 shrimp tacos. I had 1 sweet and 1 normal fish taco. At $4.50 - $5 per taco for very tiny, tiny tacos we were disappointed....The taste was excellent but we left feeling like all we had was hor d’oeuvres. The value just wasn’t there. We went home and had a 2nd dinner because we were not satisfied. They should consider adding a side of beans to make it a more substantial fulfilling meal.More
Great tacos but rather small for the price. Long wait in line makes it less attractive as a location to go to.
