About
In a world of white tablecloths and subtle snobbery, we're doing something rare: being real. We're less steak and more house. Our house - and yours. Urban Farmer was founded on the idea that combining responsibly sourced food, high-quality ingredients and down-to-earth values would create a new kind of steakhouse, where people could create memories and communities could thrive.

This was a great meal. We shared the New York Strip tastings with a side of the Mac n cheese and Fingerling potatoes. The steaks were hands down excellent along with the Mac n cheese. We did try the charcuterie board but would not recommend....Thai restaurant is inside a Hotel on the 8th floor. I would imagine it could get pretty loud since it is part of the lobby of the hotel.More

Nice selection of food on the menu. Great service and good food. I enjoy the atmosphere as well. This place is for two or a group setting.

I ate here for breakfast, lunch & dinner while staying at The Nines. My favorite items were the conversation piece cocktail, a chicken sandwich at lunch and the prime rib Benedict at breakfast. Least favorite - mechanical animal cocktail. I don’t think this place is...a good value for the money and would not come again if not staying on site.More

I typically don’t write a review unless I’ve had a positive experience. However this was such an extraordinarily bad experience I feel compelled to write in the hopes that it will reach the management of the hotel and restaurant. We ordered 2 steaks, fish and...sides. After about 40 minutes our food arrived. One steak was overcooked so we sent it back. We knew it would result in everyone else being well underway with their meal but accepted that. However 20 minutes later; a medium steak doesn’t take that long to cook, a steak was served. One cut into the steak and it was obvious that the steak was quite rare. So back it went and we gave up. They deducted the steak and three sides. Why the drinks also were not comped given the markup on alcohol, is still a mystery to me. We came for a birthday dinner and memories; some of us got dinner, as for the memories, we left them at the table.More

This was undeniably one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've ever encountered, marked by failures at every turn. I was the third in our group to arrive and order, and I requested coffee with steamed oat milk. After waiting for approximately 12 minutes, a...friend arrived and ordered a cappuccino. Strangely, my friend's coffee arrived before mine, when it finally did, it came with premixed, milk and coffee – a clear initial misstep. While the waiter did apologize, I brushed it off and found the taste decent but not memorable. Moving on to breakfast, I ordered the honey-glazed ham Benedict. It felt like an eternity for the food to arrive, and when it did, I was served the wrong dish: an avocado spinach Benedict. I informed the waiter, who promptly apologized and took it back to the kitchen. I also requested that they ensure the egg whites weren't as runny. Twenty minutes later, I observed a waiter carrying what appeared to be a ham Benedict, but it was offered to another table, then returned to the kitchen. Finally, my food arrived, but to my dismay, I received two hard-boiled eggs Benedict, which was terrible. I fell ill shortly after eating but chose not to complain, so as not to disrupt our gathering. Later, when we ordered coffee refills it took an unreasonably long time for them to arrive, and when everyone else received their coffee, I did not. I politely asked the waitress who delivered the coffee for mine, she responded rudely, saying, "Well, I only have two hands." I replied, "No problem, I'm just asking." Finally, when I did receive my coffee, it was filled to the rim with cow's milk instead of oat milk on the side, and there was no room to add any milk to the cup. Shortly afterward, the waitress with "only two hands" dropped a tray full of plates and glasses onto the floor. A few minutes later, another waiter brought two dishes to our table that didn't belong to any of us. FAIL!More

In Portland for business and had dinner here one night. We didn’t have reservations but we’re able to sit a a bar table. The halibut was cooked perfect and delicious. The server was also excellent.

We stayed at the nines so when I was looking for a breakfast place was pleasantly happy to find the Urban Farmer as one of the recommended breakfast spots in town. We ate here in our last morning. I had the eggs Benedict and my...husband had the house made English muffin with sausage. Both were very good just waaaayyyy too much food for us. We could have both done with a half order so you will get plenty of food to fuel up on for the day. I cannot recommend the coffee but get that’s an individuals taste. Service was good and the seating was nice with little niches. Then on our way to airport our driver shared with us that he use to be the chef there and raved about the management and how well they treated their employees. I felt it definitely showed in how well they worked together and all seemed happy from the hostess who sat us and made sure to keep us in order of arrival to our server and the other staff who helped her. We were also told afterward about a basement farm that if you ask your server about will give you a tour. We were bummed we didn’t get to see this so sharing here incase someone else might get to see. We would recommend this restaurant for breakfast for sure. Hope you enjoy as much as we did.More

While staying in downtown Portland I came here one evening for dinner… I found out about it based on so many positive reviews online. I sat at the bar and the dining room area on the evening of my visit was moderately busy, but not...too busy. But evidently there were three large parties going on in separate dining rooms which seemed too take up much of the kitchen’s resources. This played out in serious delays in me getting my appetizer and then my entrée. The décor in the entire place is very nice, somewhat upscale. The restaurant is inside of a VERY nice Marriott Luxury Collection hotel and the furnishings in the lobby area are stunning. Service was really nice and friendly and ultimately, even though I had such a crazy wait for my food, they gave a discount, which helped make the wait palatable. The food was outstanding! Their grilled shrimp appetizer was perfectly prepared and very tasty and there was enough there to share between three people. The burger was unbelievable! The quality of the beef on it was outstanding and the bun was their homemade English muffin, with the perfect amount of density to handle the burger without falling apart. The tomato jam and cheese on the burger really pulled the whole thing together nicely! I’d highly recommend stopping in here for a very nice dinner!More

We were looking for a spot where we could relax with a drink and some light fare. Urban Farmer proved to be the perfect choice. Located in the atrium of The Nines hotel, we were seated in the "living room". Within a roomy glass and...curtained "private" space, we sat on comfortable chairs surrounding a large round coffee table perfect for placing our drinks and sharing food. We ordered the cheese selection, a flatbread, fries, and oysters. The relaxing atmosphere and attentive but casual waitstaff were just what we had hoped for. Highly recommend it you are looking for a great place to gather.More

The space is beautiful, we had reservations and were 25 min early, and despite numerous tables being unoccupied, we had to wait 20 min. The host was quite dismissive and somewhat arrogant. Once we sat down, suddenly loud 80’s music blared from speakers above our...table. We requested it be turned down and we’re minimally accommodated. Sunday brunch has never been, nor will it ever be, an appropriate time for loud ‘80s music. The Jam, Soft Cell, The Fix, Psychedelic Furs, it was like being at a club in my 20’s. Food was good, atmosphere was made horrible. Won’t be going back for sure, too many other options to want to return.More

For ambience, Urban Farmer is barely half a step above McDonald's. The steak, potato tart, and mushrooms were "to die for" delicious but what happened to the salmon should be a criminal offense. The service was superb....until they apparently forgot about us as we waited...30 minutes for dessert. Don't bother to dress up...half the clientele was in T shirts. If you are under 40, you may not care about that. But we aren't and we will never go back there again. Oh, and by the way, 3% tip is added to the bill before you pay the tip.More

Nice atmosphere and good food. I’m not a fan of Al la carte steak houses. IMHO it’s insulting to pay $12+ for potatoes while being charged $50+ For a steak. While this does serve Al la carte, it was still a good meal I’ve been...to plenty of steak houses where they have different aged meat choices, but this is the first where feed type was a selection. We opted for the tasting option, which was three 6oz NY strips - grass fed, corn fed, grain finished. This was a great way to experience how feed impacts the meat Good service and they have implemented farm to table practices.More

No way. We found the service disinterested, and the place itself is very self absorbed, but it wasn't that slow.
