We just had lunch at Gojo. As it was early, we were their only customers. The owner made some suggestions (at my request), and we enjoyed every bite. The restaurant was very clean and tidy, as was the rest room. We'll definitely go back!

Love the tibs here, so we made the drive to the restaurant, which, according to their hours, closed at 9pm on that day. Arrived at 6:45pm to find the doors locked with closed sign displayed. People inside, but obviously not accepting customers. Disappointing.

Gojo is on a main street in a largely residential area. The signage is unassuming and clearly homemade. Ignore the outside. Inside the food is excellent. I told the owner I had never eaten here before, and I did not need a menu. I wanted him to pick a dish that would show me why I should return. “Meat?” he... More

Salem, Oregon has no Ethiopian restaurants; we have to go to Portland whenever we eat Ethiopian, so we only go if we're doing something else. We've been trying all the different restaurants around, and Gojo was yet a different take, with fabulous food. I love going into Ethiopian restaurants, as a blonde, white girl and running the gauntlet that yes,... More

The food here was decent, but this place needs to be reevaluated for cleanliness. The bathroom was GROSS. Poop all over the toilet and pee all over the wall. This is not just an off day you could tell it hadn't been cleaned in a while. When our food arrived the "bread" was served in an unlined dirty plastic basket...stained... More

I was really impressed by the food here. The restaurant is at the far, west end of Alberta and looking at it from the outside, it doesn't look like much. But the food was very well done. We had the veggie combination dish and a lamb dish. Both were tasty without being too spicy. The decor was basic but clean... More

This was a small, friendly little storefront restaurant. The decor is simple, but has homey touches like baskets and paintings that give you a bit of Ethiopian atmosphere. The menu was very simple, just entrees and beverages, no appetizers, soups or salads. The service was excellent, and the food was delicious. The injira bread was smooth and flavorful. We tried... My sister and brother in law had never eaten Ethiopian, and I had only had it once. We found this place almost by accident. I am so glad we came in; awesome spot!! The waitress was incredibly patient and helped explain the menu and cuisine to us. The atmosphere is very unique, and the food...oh the food is excellent!! Please... More

Gojo is the newest addition to the Ethiopian cuisine of Portland. They seem to be thriving in their new location on trendy NE Alberta St between 9th and 10th. Be sure to try chef Mulu's Kitfo, an Ethiopian tradition, minced beef with cardamom and other spices. The injira bread is fluffy and tasty. We had Kitfo along with a vegetarian... More
