The food was very good and our server was very friendly and attentive. I had the 1/2 & 1/2 dinner. baked ham and roasted turkey with homemade mashed potatoes and broccoli. It was VERY good.

I came for dinner with colleagues from work and was not disappointed. We visited on a Tuesday evening. We had made 6:30pm reservations just in case and it was good that we did as the restaurant was busy. I loved the old interior with all the wood detail and the glass ceiling. We were seated in the bar area and it was a tad noisy for most of our meal. The menu has a variety of food choices. I went with the fresh filet of salmon. It is served with steamed broccoli and mashed potato w/ melted butter. The fish was cooked to perfection. The broccoli had a very nice crunch to it and the mashed potato was very good. I ordered a St. Germain & Champagne drink which was exceptional. I also ordered the apple-blackberry cobbler for dessert. It comes a-la-mode. Again, very good. The cobbler is served warm and is topped with a breaded crust. I will definitely return when I next have reason to be in Portland. As a side note, this restaurant is in downtown Portland. While I would not consider the neighborhood as overly "sketchy" I always recommend being aware of your surroundings and don't allow yourself to be distracted by looking at an electronic device all the time. Because I was with two other workmates, I felt generally safe. Had I been on my own, I might have felt a little differently as our visit was after sunset. The restaurant is within close walking distance of all Max lines. For the red/blue lines, you get off at the 1st / Oak stop. For the green/yellow lines you get off at the 5th / Oak stop.

Oldest eatery in Portland! Longtime waitstaff is friendly and has great suggestions. The turkey is absolutely delicious. Good Happy Hour menu. Going back today!

The service and food were good. Thank you for a wonderful experience. We were lucky to get a booth on NY Eve to celebrate a birthday. A nice time and atmosphere.

We visited for lunch yesterday. Definitely busy on a Friday afternoon: make a reservation. The old dining area is lovely, with the pillars and arches and vaults. Service was quick and friendly.. Of course we ordered the Spanish coffee. The waiter did the whole show, mixing the drinks and lighting the match without burning himself. Impressive. The food was simple, good and reasonably priced. But I will not be back. The noise level was almost unbearable. Sounds and voices bounced off of every hard surface to the point where I had to text my family At The Same Table! to have any sort of conversation. It was a relief to exit to the street and the manageable sounds of traffic noise.

Perfect, as usual. We both ordered the turkey dinner but I knew I couldn't eat the whole thing so server suggested the kids meal. It was perfect size. We were going to theater afterwards so could not take doggy bag. The beer bread tastes like pound cake, so good! The decor is gorgeous, old school, fine dining

Huber's, apparently the oldest surviving restaurant in Portland, is a wonderful, old-school restaurant downtown. It is not nouveau or experimental, but serves traditional, tried-and-true, good food and cocktails in a lovely atmosphere with great service. We had the house specialty, Roast Young Tom turkey dinner with stuffing, baked yam, veg, gravy, and cranberry sauce, plus a side of coleslaw. All were excellent and the coleslaw was sublime, amongst the best traditional, simple coleslaw I have ever had, perfectly and finely chopped and well mixed and rested. We had excellent cocktails, starting with a sazerac and finishing with their signature Spanish Coffee prepared table side. Service is excellent, efficient, and friendly, and the preparation of the Spanish Coffee was done with style. We had never been here before but we now plan to go here whenever we are in Portland.

Excellent food, service and ambiance. Reasonably priced. Went back the next night. We had the cioppino. Seasoned just right. Went back the next night for turkey.

Stopped in for lunch on a Monday, arriving towards the end of the lunch rush… they were still busy, but we were seated quickly. Our server (who was also the bartender) was great and very helpful. He also was very talented making the Spanish coffee drink they’re noted for, which is definitely a show!! Having never been here before, we didn’t know what they were known for, but came in due to all the very positive reviews. Turns out this is the oldest restaurant and bar in Portland and they’re known for turkey! They do turkey in many different ways and they do an excellent job with it! I tried their turkey enchilada soup and it was very tasty, with a little spicy kick to it. My entrée was their open-face turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and their sage stuffing. The stuffing was perfectly moist and flavorful! The turkey was all excellent, moist (not dry at all) and very flavorful!!! The gravy on top was also great… In all, this was an excellent turkey meal… it’s like experiencing a tasty Thanksgiving for lunch in May! Even their cranberry sauce (which I normally don’t like) was great, as it had orange in it to help with the normal bitterness of the cranberries. Highly recommend stopping in here for a historic visit to a great joint for lunch or dinner!

I stumbled upon this place and boy was it delicious, fun, and memorable. This is the oldest Restaurant in Portland and I'm kind of surprised it didn't come up in any of my searches. It's in The Pearl District which has beautiful, historic buildings. The food was absolutely delicious and one of the least expensive meals I've had all week while in Portland. This place is a gem!!! The chicken wings are bomb! The fish and chips with coleslaw was delicious and the hot turkey dinner, their specialty, was fabulous!!! Beautiful interior and great service!!! Thoroughly enjoyed!!!

So many things to say: 1) the surrounding areas are really 'seedy' even during the day, I was very aware of my surroundings. I walked by and noticed all the previous accolades the restaurant won and felt I really needed to support them. 2) the services was well below average! I had to wait for 15 minutes to place my order and then I gave up and asked one of the employees to arrange someone to take my order. The restaurant was quite at the time and there were no staff on the floor for an extended period. I also had to ask for cutlery. I could hear the staff laughing out the back. This all made me very grumpy! My perception from the waitress' body language is that it is not an enjoyable place to work. There was a gentleman who appeared at one stage, he looked like the manage, I really wanted to talk to him! 3) there appears to be no gender equity. The men are in the bar and generally not fully utilised. The women are on the floor and are much busier. My waitress had no idea about wines, which was really frustrating. I have worked as a waitress for several years and you need to educate yourself. 4) the food was sensational, I can't speak highly enough, I loved it! I had the creole fish and prawns. I would return again just for this!! 5) the physical atmosphere was fabulous! I have visions of being here in the 1920s. 6) I am currently sipping a cocktail - triple fabulous!! Recommendation - visit, just adjust your expectations of service. Also, if you are not really hungry, visit the bar for 'happy hour' which includes food. Okay - I am sitting here and there are people waiting on at the door and only one wait staff on the floor (who is busy). Absolutely no-one paying attention to them!!! I had to ask someone from the bar to organise someone to serve them! The service here is the worst! It could be so much better!!! So much potential, so sad.

I was in town for a conference and needed a restaurant for four people for dinner. Huber’s kept showing up as an option on my searches since it’s so close off of the MetroMax, took reservations, and had a variety of food options. I had to admit, when I walked by earlier in the week I second-guessed my decision and almost canceled. But, wow! I am so glad we kept our reservation! Walking in was a bit odd, since the restaurant is in the back off of a long, old-looking hallway. But, then comes the opening for the restaurant. The restaurant itself looks like an old, beautiful, classic restaurant. We thought it reminded us of a SpeakEasy and found out from staff that’s what it used to be. The food was great. I got the turkey dinner and it was fresh turkey - like Thanksgiving. After days of conference food, it was so nice to sit in a nice restaurant and have quality food. All of the staff was great. They were kind, accommodating, and prompt. My only regret was not getting the Spanish Coffee (the next table over got it), but, I will be back for the conference next year and will make sure we come back.
