After an amuse bouche or two and a glass of their house red wine, we tried the 10 course tasting menu ($60 per person, takes about 2 hrs). The small plates highlighted local ingredients from around the Pacific northwest, including oysters, salmon, mushrooms, edible flowers. Plates were pleasing to the eyes and presented a nice balance of textures and flavors.... More

Nice small area outside for HH. Happy hour offers great value and food. Perfect cocktails to have with friends after work and near great 13th avenue shopping.

There are some good things going on here. Not world shaking, but you can eat your fill and get drinks too.

Dear Scrappleking: Well, it sounds like we made a rather lackluster impression on you. That is certainly far short of our goal. We work to make every experience polished, delicious, and memorable. I hope we might get another opportunity to show you what we can really do. Until then... My best, Bruce Carey, owner More

Great choice for a Christmas eve pre-fixe dinner. The meal was $70 per person plus drinks. I had the horseradish encrusted salmon that was the best! The starter course, a salad, was not noteworthy but it was good. The dessert - awesome! I appreciated the little things they did to make the meal special for Christmas. There were signature cocktails... More

We went for brunch, the interior was beautiful but the food was average. My smoked salmon benedict was luke warm and they needed to toast the english muffin so the hollandaise didn't make it soggy. My daughters french toast was just okay.

While I'm thrilled to hear the atmosphere was able to leave a great impression, I'm sorry the food wasn't able to do the same. I only hope you give us another chance in the future so that we can show you the five-star experience you deserve. Best wishes, Bruce Carey Owner More

Beautiful, upmarket restaurant with interesting menu and good staff. Only complaint is that other staff members did not try to help our waiter who was struggling to keep up with our 12+ group. Otherwise, a good experience.

We were celebrating our half-aversary on a Sunday evening. The restaurant was not crowded (hint - go on a Sunday evening), and we were given ample time to sit and sip before ordering. We both had the agnolotti pasta with red and white wine (different strokes...). These were simply handmade pasta pillows in an oil and garlic sauce, but nevertheless... More

Used to go here before I moved from Portland, had a really bad experience a few months ago. We came in later and their menu was very limited. Once they served our food, we realized that it wasn't what we ordered. Apparently, they ran out of what we ordered and substituted without letting us know. They also charged us for... More

Bluehour was recommended to me by some local Portland people. It is fien dining, French style. I really appreciated that the server (in my case Alison) was totally professional and warm, did not rush me through me my meal as too often occurs in the US (even at fine dining establishments) and was totally attentive to my needs. the food... Decided to try Bluehour for Brunch this past Sunday. Bluehour did not disappoint! Great food, drinks and service! The Mac & Cheese was excellent and my husband had the Duck Confit Benedict which was also wonderful! I highly recommend Bluehour for a great dinning experience. Looking forward to trying them for dinner too! Thank you!

Description
Bluehour means different things to different people. In French literature it describes any time of day "of heightened emotion." In Portland it has come to mean "a great place to dine." As the premier modern restaurant in the Pearl District, Bluehour opened its doors in 2000, with what Gourmet Magazine describes as, "the most sophisticated, contemporary food in town." Guests choose between the elegant dining room or the casual cafe and bar. Simple, delicious and classic describes the Mediterranean cuisine we create in the Bluehour kitchen each night. The menu is printed daily, but Bluehour standards remain, like the pillowy potato gnocchi with black truffle and the perfectly seared, bacon wrapped sea scallops.
