We had a lovely breakfast and our server was exceptional. The orange juice was served in a wine goblet. The decor is lovely too.

I'm happy to write a review for the Red Star. On our last visit to the Monaco, Jan 20-24, we practically "lived" at the Red Star. Friday night we had dinner other our daughter and two small grandsons, ages 7&4. Our waitress, for the second time, was Andrea. What a lovely person. She was wonderful with the boys, and us.... Colby, It was just as enjoyable for us as it was for you. Those grandchildren were some of the best behaved kids we've seen in quite awhile, and Andrea loves kids so I know she was happy to take care of you guys too. You hung in there with us for by far the busiest happy hour I've worked here... More

We were staying at the Hotel Monaco which we loved for a conference and wanted to get a quick bite eat. Red Star is attached to the hotel so it was very convenient for us. We were greeted and seated right away and the ambience had a neighborhood pub feeling to it. Service was friendly and efficient. What we were... More

Yoko, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a few notes. Apologies if the menu was misleading but our shrimp salad, with radicchio and fried slices of pickled fennel is listed under the heading "Small Plates" both at dinner when you visited us as well as on our lunch menu, the price is also clearly listed too. Our... More

The food was good, the cocktails were done well, but we were forgotten about by our waiter (and it wasn't crazy-busy or anything). We were so excited to be in Portland anyway that we still enjoyed ourselves, so it was only a minor letdown, but if we'd had places to be... it would have been a problem.

The food is pretty good and so are the beverages on offer. A good place to eat alone or with other people.

Have been curious to try this place for awhile. It wasn't what I expected (mostly burgers) and that was OK. The lunch menu was a surprise. My husband got the fish tacos and I got the crab roll. Both were delicious with their own special touches. It is located right in the middle of the few blocks where we were... More

APennero, I'm glad that the rockfish tacos and crab roll fit the bill for you and yours, kudos! We do benefit quite a bit from being so centrally located during the busy shopping season, I'm glad you found us. Will S More

Had two breakfasts and one dinner here while staying at the adjacent Monaco Hotel. All three meals were super. Our waitress, Cheryl, was the highlight of our meals and was also the creator of the art work in the hallway from the hotel. We've been here before and always look forward to returning.

Ray, Cheryl surprised so many of us when she put that art up in the back hallway, she does pretty impressive work in- and outside of this building. Thanks for noticing! Will S More

Stayed at the attached hotel (Kimpton) and thus decided to eat here. Four of us on a business trip. Several of the items our group wanted (menu items) they were out of? Started with a cheese plate sampler and it was a very good mix and flavors, highly recommend. I had a wild boar pasta dish that was so flavorful... More

Really good food and service will be had here. The first night was not so crowded and the waitress had time to chat about Portland with me a little. I ordered the Chef's plate and was impressed with my salad, my scallops and dessert. So I kept going back. Had breakfast oats with apple and toasted walnuts. Then had another... More
