This place was good. The Maddie lemon ricotta pancakes with blueberry compote were decadent. So, so good. The loaded hashbrowns were great and the Ed’s scramble was delicious. My only complaint is the gravy could have more flavor.

Be prepared to wait! We waited 75 minutes for a table for two at 12:00pm on a Sunday and the line wrapped around the block. Fortunately we were prepared for this and didn’t mind at all. We wandered over to Grand Central Bakery across the...street and had coffee and pasties while we waited. Once our table was ready, we were greeted and put in an order within 10 minutes of seating. Our meals came out within 10 minutes — huge, huge portions. Very tasty! Lots of vegetarian options. Classic diner vibes, don’t expect anything fancy. Rancheros and their house hot sauce with the perfect over easy eggs was 10/10.More

We had a great breakfast at Jam, and especially enjoyed the bloody mary. The food is tasty and well presented and the atmosphere is fun and funky, just like Portland. Local artists have paintings for sale on the walls, which is cool. We'll definitely eat...again at Jam!More

Jam on Hawthorne has quite a selection for your brunch loving heart. With its art on the walls, large potted plants and it’s unique layout, the place has a cool vibe. The servers are quite unique and usually full of dry humor and provide great...service.More

We come to Portland from Central Oregon for the Broadway plays and on this trip we decided to go out for breakfast instead of having the free one from the hotel. We are so glad we made the choice to go out. We had heard...of this place and decided to go here. We had about an hour wait that was so worth it. The Maddie cakes (lemon ricotta pancake with blueberry compote) and eggs Benedict were beyond delicious. The hollandaise is the kind I remember from years ago and the lemon in the cakes just perfect. The four had fabulous food also. Perfect for vegan food, so I recommended it to my friend who cannot eat meat and dairy. Thank you for such delicious food, I’m looking forward to our next visitMore

The 30 min wait did not deter us on a late weekday morning between Christmas and New Years because of the excellent TripAdvisor reviews. The mood was jolly and fragrances from the kitchen delightful. Staff was very friendly and accommodating the crowd while waiting and...while seated for ordering. The ambiance of the place is “funky”, meaning cement floors, marginal art (local?) displayed, sometimes crookedly, on walls with a few exceptions, wait folks not dressed for success. It is a noisy place but you can still carry on a conversation. Our order included Eggs Benedict ~ Florentine, BYO Scramble w/caramelized onions and spinach, a biscuit substituted for toast. A pretty solid B for food. English muffins were not toasted well for the Benedict and entire dish was rather bland. Scramble was not exceptional, onions soggy or maybe egg should have been scrambled a few more minutes. Biscuit was delicious, enjoyed with their homemade jam, looked like different flavors on each table. We had the orange version. The sizable serving of hash browns was terrible, tasted a bit off. I recommend that you omit them from your order. Now that I read more of the Trip Advisor reviews, I see others also mention the hash browns as being subpar. Maybe we should have ordered one of the daily specials, they did sound interesting and flavorful. We were served the wrong scramble order initially but was corrected quickly. I don’t understand the 4.5 score for food reviews, we did enjoyed the atmosphere but can’t say it is for everyone. There must be equally good or better breakfast places in Portland? We will not return on our next visit to Portland.More
