Sandbar is located on the beach in Sandy Ground, one of the most charming fishing villages in the Caribbean and the "sea and sand" theme of the bar envelopes you as you enter. Lots of natural light, unobstructed views of Road Bay with its myriad boats at anchor - coupled with an abundance of trade breezes make this a cool and comfortable spot to enjoy drinks, & dinner. Dining and seating is available inside and also outside on a terrace perfect for watching the day & sun go down. Serving tasty tapas & cool cocktails Monday to Saturday. Live acoustic music on Thursdays at 7:00.

Thanks to friends we met on island and continue to meet up with (isn’t that one of the great things about Anguilla?) this gem has become an every trip choice. The atmosphere is perfect, a tad lively and festive without being loud and definitely not pretentious, with that beautiful Sandy Ground view and twinkling lights. The menu truly has something for everyone at varying price points and the wine list is solid ranging from non connoisseur choices to higher end options. We chose the non connoisseur Sauvignon Blanc and a perfect selection of tapas: mussels in a light curry broth, the mahi dish which I never recall exact name of (Fra Diavalo?), and as always the zucchini carpaccio. For two of us with a bottle of wine and tip our bill is consistently in the $120 range. SandBar is perfectly set up for a special romantic night or fun dinner with friends. See you next trip, SandBar!

We spent a glorious 9 days on Anguilla in July 2021, and found the island to be quite empty during our time there. Many restaurants we ate at were empty, or nearly so. The one place that was jam-packed, though, was SandBar, and deservedly so! SandBar is right on the beach, and the back of the restaurant is entirely open so that you have that gorgeous view always in sight. The tapas were all inspired, exciting and delicious. The drinks were equally so. We sat at the bar and had a blast listening to the live live music (Big Mike was great) and enjoying the joyful atmosphere. Our bartender was wonderful. My wife has allergies to both gluten and dairy, and they were completely knowledgable about the ingredients and able to easily accommodate. Kudos all around!

For me this restaurant is the perfect combination of a relaxed beachfront restaurant but with a high-end and sophisticated vibe and menu. The food is fabulous and the staff are great. The owner is a very charismatic and friendly woman, and the restaurant is very well managed. We ate there once a week or more during our 6 week stay - we loved it that much.

The ambiance was very nice and right on the beach. We had a lovely table right at waters edge. The people were very friendly.
We had the french fries, calamari, tuna poke and the barbecued ribs. Everything was good but unfortunately everything stopped after the first three tapas and the ribs took over 35 minutes to arrive which put a damper on the dinner.
I most probably would have given a very good had it not been for the slowness of the ribs.
Worth a try if you are in the area.

We can only assume the extremely disappointing experience was a result of the recent ownership change noted in other reviews. We waited nearly 30 minutes between tapas and was overall disappointed. We thought lobster bites (a special) was a great idea since it is local to the area. Unfortunately, after ordering, we were disappointed to hear a couple next to us ask which of the seafood dishes were fresh/local and the response was none. Well the lack of fresh ingredients was evident in the taste of the food. Two of us could not even eat more than a bite or two of each of the dishes and we left very hungry. They were also out of many dishes. Save your money, the food is pricey and not worth it.

We have eaten at Sandbar at least 15 times in the past and is one of our favorites when visiting Anguilla. It is under new ownership this year. I am sorry to say we had an underwhelming experience. We arrived at 6:30 and ordered a bottle of water and drinks. The place wasn’t very busy with about 6 or 7 tables taken. It took about 15 minutes but we finally got our drinks. We orders 4 dishes and asked that they bring 2 and then 2 a little later. It took about 20 minutes to get the first 2 and another 40-45 minutes to get the last 2. Not very prompt. One of the first 2 dishes was served barely warm and wasn’t as good as it should have been. When they brought out next 2 dishes they had one of them wrong and had to go back and remake it. The servers were not very attentive and after waiting as long as we did we just wanted our check and to leave. We will try this place again as anybody can have an off night but my hope is the new owners up their game.

We went twice already this season and will go again. I LOVE this place. It is still my favorite. The flavors are fresh, the variety is wide, the owner is always friendly and perky and works her butt off. The value is very good too for Anguilla.

Had the best dinner and dining experience at the SandBar during our vacation! Ordered drinks and tapas and had a beachfront table with great view of Road Bay/Sandy Ground. My favorites were the lobster tacos, kung pao cauliflower and the chimichurri steak tapas, but the shining star amongst many stars was the johnnycake sundae! This was the most delicious creation I have tasted, and I could have eaten 10 more! In addition, both the chef and the owner came to our table to talk to us, which we enjoyed so much, learning about the history as well as the inspirations for the wonderful spice choices within each dish. Wish we had found this gem earlier in our trip, as we would have frequented it daily! Definitely going back on our next visit to Anguilla!

Visted Sandbar before the owners left back to California — this place is great! Sunset dinner at Sandbar really got me on island mode — delicious food, relaxed beach atmosphere and even enjoyed the music from down the beach at Elvis’ while enjoying our meal. I say start with the Sandbar cocktail, get the Tuna Poke, the zucchini carpaccio, the sautéed Prawns, the Flank Steak with Chimichurri Sauce and their delicious (seemingly double baked) french fries with their aoli sauce. Can’t wait to go back under the new owners. This place is perfect.

Dinner at the Sandbar was an experience we won't soon forget. Located directly on the beach in Sandy Ground, we had a front row seat to the bay and exceptional sunset. Dinner consisted of our orders of Tapas, which were all excellent. Recommend the warm cucumber salad, tempura fries, fried fish fritters and don't miss their special frozen rum drink

Thank you to Shoverna and staff at Sandbar who have a knack at consistently accommodating us each time I call to make reservation as well as create consistently delicious tapas for good price point. Favourites are lamb, flank steak, beets, kung pao cawliflower and Italian Pinot Grigio. Make sure you arrive early to walk beach before happy hour from 430-630 nightly!

The food was delicious. “Small Plate” portion sizes left us a little hungry and every item had to be ordered separately. Rather pricey when served in such a fashion.
The best part was the young lady who sang the entire night. She had such a beautiful voice . It was strong and clear and her song choices were of all genres. She is worth going to listen to.

We enjoy this tapas restaurant. For two people I suggest 3-4 tapas. They have several choices but we like the zucchini carpaccio, fish bites, flank steak with chimichurri, lettuce wedge, and caprese. Do save room for a desert of a Johnny cake with ice cream and sauce on it. They have music some nights. The staff is helpful and all the food is very good. It is right on the beach so views are nice.

Beautiful setting right on the beach.
We were surprised by the new small plates menu but each dish was delicious. We were delighted with all the vegetarian choices. We tried two salads. the Greek and Beet. They were wonderful. Then the mahi bites which were deep fried but done perfectly with flaky fish inside and crispy on the outside. The Brussels sprouts were done with a delicious sauce and the zucchini dish was also tasty.
The wine list is extensive and the bar was putting out beautiful looking cocktails but we had wine.
The servers were friendly and attentive. Overall a lovely experience.
The live music started around 7 pm. Nice touch but a little loud for dining.
I recommend a visit either for drinks and a few small plates or for a full meal.

Terrific food and service with a great view of Road Bay’s water.
Food we ordered:
Honey Sriracha glazed Brussels sprouts, King Pao cauliflower, grilled flat iron steak, chicken satay. Smaller portions that usual, but the prices were less too.
Desserts are a treat too! Overall a really nice dinner in a great location.
A singer provided pleasant music to listen to.
