About
Fodors - Inventive, sophisticated, and downright delicious, Carrie Bogar's "Cuisine of the Sun" features thoughtful but ingenious preparations of first-rate provisions. Ample portions are sharable works of art-sample Moroccan-spiced shrimp "cigars" with roast tomato-apricot chutney or Vietnamese-spiced calamari. Jerk-spiced tuna is served with a rum-coffee glaze on a juicy slab of grilled pineapple with curls of plantain crisps, and crayfish in ginger beurre blanc is beyond divine. Dessert is a must

This lounge is below a very popular restaurant. The setting is super cool with comfortable couches and furniture with a Morracan theme. A very nice two-piece band was playing. The drinks were served in high quality glassare. (eveything is high quality). Make sure you check in with the staff upstairs as they may not staff the lower area, at least they didn't when we were there. Once the staff knew we were there, and the only ones there, they were very attentive.

On the ground level of Veya restaurant is this lovely lounge featuring a light menu, drinks and live music. Definitely worth checking out before or after dinner. A nice addition to an already very special place!

Enjoyed drinks and tapas on a Monday evening with Omari Banks playing. As there were only a few other guests (including Bankie), it was like a 2-hour private, intimate concert. Omari was incredible, and very friendly as well. Memorable evening. Food, drinks and service all first-class.

We elected to have our dinner in Meze over the main restaurant, Veya, so we could listen to Omari Banks. It was a great evening for us in the Moroccan décor with great food and music.

We started out at Meze before heading up for dinner at Veya. The cocktails were terrific and unique. We plan to go back again this week.

With the melodic sounds provided by Asher Brooks, a talented local pianist, as background, we set out to try the new $5 crayfish special last Wednesday.
We arrived early, 6:30 PM and were lucky to be seated in the downstairs Moroccan themed Meze. Sprawling low couches with colorful, comfortable pillows, low tables and tapestries create an intimate and relaxing atmosphere. The platter of crayfish was grilled perfectly, firm and succulent dipped in garlic butter. The aromatic coconut rice was the perfect delicious side dish. The Decoy Cabernet was vintage. We finished off the meal by splitting a Key Lime Pie in a Jar which was light and sweet. If you prefer traditional seating in a more formal setting head upstairs to Veya which is one of the top five restaurants on Anguilla.

My wife and I tried Meze for the first time during a recent visit to Anguilla. We were looking for a light dinner with some music, and Meze fit the bill. The food and music were very good, but the service was only fair.
Meze is associated with the restaurant Veya, which is located upstairs, so they both share the same musical entertainment. Meze is more of a cocktail lounge than a restaurant, with couches and coffee tables rather than dining tables, and a middle-eastern feel. Meze offers a tapas menu with individual small plates and combination platters from a variety of cuisines, so plan on sharing if you go.
My wife and I shared the Caribbean Platter, which consisted of conch fritters, salt fish, plantain chips, pigeon pea dip (hummus), and johnny cakes; all the food was pretty good, but not as good as Veya upstairs. We had a bottle of wine with dinner, which we enjoyed. The platter had plenty of food and was reasonably priced; we were too full for dessert.
Our server, a young man whose name I don't recall, was friendly, but inexperienced, inattentive, and so soft-spoken that we had a hard time hearing him (even though the music wasn't loud). The music that evening (a Wednesday) was provided by singer Leslie Nanton, a crooner who sang with recorded music (big band, jazz, etc.) and was very good.
If you're looking to hear some music in a cocktail lounge setting with some food, Meze is a good choice. If you're looking for more of a traditional dinner experience with the same music, go upstairs to Veya, which is one of the best restaurants on the island.

The dining environment was outstanding. Our food was excellent. Our waiter, a young man from the art school, was absolutely the best, I would have been extremely proud if he was my son. He introduced us to Johny Cakes..They are unbelievably good. You must dine at this 5 star restaurant...money well spent!

We decided instead of eating at Veya we wanted to enjoy a drink and have one of their platters to share. We had the mediterranean and it did not disappoint. Very fresh with warm pita. Music was also amazing and we left with smiles on our faces. parking lot was full and somewhat of an issue getting a space but we finally managed to squeeze in a spot. Service was attentive.

We had the pleasure of seeing Omari perform in the Meze lounge. It was such a nice setting, great drink and appetizers and beautiful music by a very talented musician. Loved it.

I need to come out and just tell you all up front that this place is 125% mosquito infested! This is an outside lounge only -- so the mosquitoes are completely unavoidable. I've been here on a couple occasions and I've been eaten pretty much alive even with bug spray on.
It's really a shame. However Meze is placed underneath a restaurant in a semi jungle area where it's moist and damp and the mosquitos live and breed in that environment.
Also, Both nights we went we were told Omari banks was going to be playing and he never played on either nights. So we were without music. Big let down.

Located on the ground floor of Veya this oriental tented performance venue is reminiscent of Morroco. Small and intimate, cocktail lounge lends itself to the best local young and talented singers. You will not find a bank of 8 or 10 booming speakers on the stage...instead it is more in the genre of 'easy listening' contemporary music.
The bar menu is delicious small plates and often you can order o'dourves from Veya's dinner menu if their kitchen is still open. The cocktails are well made and served on the brass topped middle eastern low table which fits the theme of the exotic casbah. A great place to go after dinner or for a light supper and entertainment....one of my favorites.

The night we dined at Veya it was pouring rain so we were unable to go downstairs to Meze. So driving by another night we decided to stop in for a drink. Much to our delight Omari Banks was playing. Not many people there so we were able to get a seat and listen to him play and have a drink. It is a very cool space and as another reviewer said it is like being in a "genie bottle" perfect description. Unfortunately Omari cut his set short because he was having a release party at Dune Preserve for his new music video, he apologized and said we should all come over and enjoy a full concert. Needless to say we did! So after our one drink and Omari's departure we headed on out over to Dune Preserve also. Wish we had time to come back to enjoy Meze longer but definitely will next time we are in Anguilla.
