We've visited this unique restaurant a number of times even though it is 35 miles from home. The restaurant is actually in the basement of what is currently a Bed & Breakfast. It was built in 1762, 14 years before the Declaration of Independence was signed. The establishment boasts that George Washington was a guest in the early days of... More

Great menu, good service and a perfect atmosphere. The Jean Bonnet never disappoints. We were in the dining room (downstairs) but have eaten in the Tavern (upstairs). Both terrific!

I have had several business meetings downstairs and the food is always top of the line. Service is always good too. Upstairs is more of a sports bar atmosphere with great food and drinks.

My boyfriend and I recently visited the Jean Bonnet Tavern last. The wings weren't as good as I remember but overall the food was fantastic. The low point of our visit was the server was very rude. She barely spoke to us, brought out our food with items that we had specifically be left off the meal, and generally made... More

Based on a recommendation, we dined at Jean Bonnet for dinner. Ok atmosphere and service, however, I am compelled to post a complaint that I hope the kitchen will take to heart. I ordered salad (the teriyaki salmon) as a main course. It had mixed greens with a fair amount of tasteless iceberg lettuce and a chunk of core from... More

Our family of four had a late lunch on a Sunday arriving at about 2:30. The restaurant was almost ful however we were seated immediately. Perfect cozy setting for a rainy Sunday - candlelit tables and beautiful old wood all around. My husband ordered the pan seared sea scallop entree and he loved that. My son and I ordered the... We had a rendezvous for lunch with friends from Latrobe, PA as Bedford is halfway between us in Chambersburg, PA. The wood fire in the old basement dinning hall fireplace added a great feel (and smell!) The food is good but tends to be higher in costs than one might expect.

Is Impressive how the step up each dish with creative additions making a delicious dinner. Bacon wrapped large scallops WITH light barbecue sauce and lemon. Worth the $14. Corn crab soup WITH small potatoes. Perfectly cooked salmon with glaze AND sesame seeds, over salad many ingredients, with house french-based dressing WITH beets and egg mini pieces. So unusual. Too sweet... More

Historical tavern. Great atmosphere. Excellent dinner and good service. I did not make reservations so I was not so happy with my table since it was in the middle and I felt like I was in the way.
