New barbecue and brews available in former Plain and Fancy Family Restaurant. Former items from Family Style dinner still available as build-your plate option, just not all inclusive. Bus group Family Style still available upstairs. Barbecued pulled pork, chicken, Turkey and Beef Brisket available with sides (Mac and cheese, fries, baked beans, Cole slaw, etc). Local craft beer and sodas... More

I live about 5 miles away and decided to try the new BBQ rest. At Plain n Fancy. Food was very good. Brisket, pulled pork was the meat choices. Oh, the corn bread muffins were excellent. Great beer choices also.

We came expecting the wonderful family eating experience we had so enjoyed in the past, it's gone. The food was good, but the experience was not the same. I could have eaten at a place like this back home.

Smoke House BBQ they are called now. A good place to park for "refueling". The new menu is not long, so every item on it has been perfected. Everything with "BBQ" in the name is a must - it's simply delectable. A decent selection of craft brews is also available. Very quick and polite service.

All of the food is locally grown. Plain and fancy is now also called the Smokehouse shop. Their menu is BBQ, but they still serve some of the plain and fancy favorite dishes. The main dining room downstairs in no longer family style, but they still offer family style upstairs for the bus tours. They are very accommodating to your... More

So sad to hear it has closed. I loved eating and meeting others. Amish food was amazing. My children will be so sad to hear.

This is not a bad review of the place, it is about that it is changing to a different type menu and atmosphere. March 2017 it was closed for renovations. It is going to reopen as Smoketown BBQ and Pub. I was told they are going to keep some of the traditional PA Dutch dishes. Didn't find out is they... More

Thanks for you curiosity Dave. You are correct in the fact that Plain & Fancy Restaurant is evolving. After several decades of serving all you can eat family style dining, the majority of our guests have told us that they no longer care to sit with strangers because of personal hygiene concerns and they are also concerned about the tremendous... Six of us visited the last Saturday night in October. We had to wait to be seated. Am I cynical that they have a big shop next to the waiting area? We managed not to spend anything there, but only just. Lots of knick knack type things. Restaurant was absolutely exactly what we expected. We had the meal where you... More

Every year for about the last 10 we have celebrated Thanksgiving with our Family, and no one was ever disappointed. My wife and I also frequent plain & Fancy many times for lunch or dinner. Their ala cart menu is IMO better than the family style. If your ever in the area try it out.

They say you cannot go back. I seem to remember this place from years ago and it was either busier or better. What a shame that our fellow American Amish Bretheren are exploited to such an extent. Still the food was okay, just not a good as it could be. I seem to have a better cookbook than they do... More
