Two of us arrived by bicycle on the Hadrian's wall cycleway. Secure bike storage, lovely rooms, comfortable and clean, lovely food.

We dropped in for lunch after visiting the church. We both had the hot meat sandwich which is served with chips and a jug of gravy. My lamb and my husbands beef were both delicious and tender. An excellent pot of tea too :-) We will definitely be back to try out the dinner menu :-)

The food was excellentand imaginatively presented -- for example the sticky toffee pudding came with a tiny milk bottle full of sauce. There is a revolving menu and the food we had was all well prepared. The service was very good and the atmosphere pleasant.

Always a warm welcome. A good choice of real ales. When we are looking for a light lunch we always opt for the Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon.

Had one meal that was excellent and two nights later a mediocre effort - consistency is the essential quality that most people seek

We had delicious main courses at the Red Lion and couldn't resist a pudding. It was all beautifully presented. Would definitely return if in the area.

Quintessential country pub ... Friendly patrons ... the food here was the perfect introduction to rural Northumberland .... Pork belly to die for ...

Arrived by chance at 1.55 on a Sunday, with food stopping at 2.00 - still fitted in with a smile, for a sensibly priced excellent roast. So went back later in the week and did it properly - spent the evening eating a well-cooked, well-presented, quality meal, with decent beer too. Not the largest eating area, but a good atmosphere,... Steak was good and soup tasty. Service was a bit lacking and we had to get up and ask for flatware, beverages, etc.

Steak was beautifully cooked with a tasty chargrilled exterior. Chicken dish with haggis was also delicious. Really enjoyed the cheese souffle only comment would be to serve with a little roll or piece of bread to soak up the last of the cheesy sauce!
