Quaint little place in rural Pennsylvania. A place noted for their steak and homemade fries. Everything was good except the salad, a little wilted. The homemade fries was delicious and one order was enough to share with two people. The steaks weren't bad either. The service was excellent and the place had a cozy atmosphere but we had to wait... 35 years ago this was one of my favorite spots. Now that I have traveled the world, not so much. First time back in 35 years. Surprised it still existed. Went to the bar area which was empty. Directed to go out back to "Little Dick's Deck Bar". Dirty and load area. Sat down and immediately was served our drinks.... More

While this establishment is in dire need of structural and cosmetic updates it is always a good time. Even though they are understaffed, the staff that is there is always friendly. Part of the draw of this place is the clientele. We've rarely walked away without a memory from each visit. Have to try the wings. And during the warm... More

Returned here after 25 years after reading about it in the local paper, as a hidden secret of PA. Well, despite hearing how it wasn't any good any more, we decided to give it a whirl after the rent article. Wrong. Same old building, although there is a nice deck out back, enjoyed by a lot of bikers on weekends.... More

You take a 7 mile drive down a scenic farm country valley road and you come to one of the most nondescript looking places for a drinking/dining establishment you can imagine, most certainly nondescript for you if your tastes run the range from Applebees, to Arooga's, to Buffalo Wild Wings and back again. Not much neon. If you are looking... More

A friends' birthday celebration took us to this well off the beaten trail establishment. An old house - and possibly a former hotel. There are (apparently) several dining areas (we walked trough one to get to our assigned room). There is a bar which I never encountered. There were a large number of interesting antiques. In our room, they were... More

For many years, I have heard people talking about the Carsonville Hotel. For years I thought it was some big fancy hotel, with over priced food. For years people always told me that I need to go. Well, we finally made the trip. We went twice. I always have tried things twice, before I give my opinion. Both occasions we... More

Have been here a couple of times and the quality of the steaks did not change one iota! Very pleasant service - you may dine outdoors if you like. History of the place is it is OVER 200 years old and was everything from a stage coach stop, to a grocery store (100 yrs ago) to a restaurant. Come as... More

Sometimes an aimless Sunday drive with friends turns into a great find. That was the case earlier today. We found ourselves driving in the Halifax area and remember that there was this legendary eating place where the steaks hung over the plate and the french fries are piled high. I'm happy to report that the tales about the food were... More

Turn left onto Powells Valley Road, go about 7 miles and you will come to this rustic hotel with a great eating experience. The steak dinner is great. Start off you dinner with a drink from the bar. Eat on!
