We stumbled in here after hearing that there would be live music on and boy did we get music. I wish I could remember the guys name that was performing as he was just fantastic...like a modern day one man band only much better. Very friendly atmosphere and bar staff were excellent and efficient. Every sex, age, greed and nationality... More

Is this the best sports bar pub in Byron? When you enter the old fashioned front bar at the GREAT NORTHERN you find a bank of screens at one end which tends to follow the gallops and similar (other events at other times) and a giant screen at the other end which features the footy or cricket. This is a... More

Lined up around 1am. Security staff refused entry to group of 4 females in late 20s. Did not give any reason for refusal. Let two younger females in directly after us. Returned after we had seen others being let in after us to request why they had refused us. Security staff had no reasons they could tell us for refusal... More

Really ordinary lunch menu. Hardly any options. Needs to offer more to compete with all the high quality offerings nearby

Awesome burgers and beers on tap. Great old good feel pub with good food I can highly recommend the Baramundi burger. Good service always a must visit when in town.

we were going to only stop in for a drink but found ourselves in the quaint dining room of this old style pub. the meals were a very pleasant surprise - really delicious and good value. my fellow travellers had the snapper - good size serving and they really enjoyed it. I had an entree - arancini balls and they... More

Big fan of this venue. Went here for the official Splendour pre-party. The sound is great, the drinks are excellently priced. Great atmosphere.

Prior to watching the Splenour in the Grass Pre Party we decided to grab a quick meal at the Northern only because this is where the show was. Awesome decision. The pulled beef nacho's and spicy chicken wings with blue cheese sauce are the best we have had for a long long time. The spicy chicken wings are really spicy... More

This is an old style pub with many original architectural features still in place. The front room dining is very 1950's as far as decor is concerned. We ate here twice, both evening meals. On our first visit we had chicken and chips with salad and side dishes of streamed green vegetables. Everything was very nice. The meal was a... More

We had a few drinks here and some dinner. Texas Beef nachos was yum as it had some kick to it and the fish and chips was also delicious. Recommend for a quick and easy meal.
