I had been wanting to dine at Rick Stein’s for a while now and my wife and I finally did so on a Saturday evening and it was excellent! I wasn’t sure about how good it was going to be given some of the reviews on TripAdvisor, but it exceeded our expectations. For entrees we had Confit of Smoked Ocean... More

We dined here because of the name, and being on holidays we were not disappointed. Expensive but well worth the visit, great food and great views.

First of all I'm a self confessed Rick Stein fan, if there's one celebrity chef I'd like to meet it's him. So a surprise/mystery birthday present of a night at Bannisters and dinner at Rick's restaurant went down very well. The menu is innovative with some nice twists on international dishes which reflect his travels. The oysters charentaise were excellent,... More

Really delicious desserts..Goats cheese tart was a winner. Rum n raisin ice cream a must have. Desserts were the highlight with out party. Mains were hit and miss. Fish pie was more like a thick fish cowder with torched bread crumbs in presentation and what was with the glazed brown Pottery dishes that were still cooking the food ten minutes... More

Reading the mixed reviews here, I was a bit hesitant about booking my birthday dinner here, but since Rick Stein's restaurant has been on my bucket list for so long, I decided to ignore the reviews and try it for myself. The food was second to none- quality and flavour was evident and the service excellent. We ordered 3 entrees... More

Nowhere near as good as other Rick Stein restaurants, food was good but over priced for what it was, service average & not good enough for this level of restaurant. Scallops are minuscule.

Stayed at Bannisters Pavillion a couple of weeks ago and had dinner at Rick Stein's. The atmosphere was relaxed and the staff were very friendly. Service was great and the food was excellent. It felt like casual fine dining, still very stylish and modern, nice inside and well presented food and fantastic taste! I loved the sashimi plate entrée it... More

My wife was given a gift voucher to attend this restaurant. The service was great and food was good. Seafood that I hadn't been served previously on the far south coast. Tasted a variety of dishes and dessert which were very delicious. However value for money is debatable. Once off experience.

After reading some of the other reviews of Rick Stein at Bannisters, I can only assume that we have really lucked out! We have stayed at Bannisters and dined at the restaurant 4 times over about 6 years and each time it has been amazing! Maybe if they have run out of seafood on a Sunday, it is because the... More

Relaxed, unpretentious but stylish, and sophisticated. Delicious, inventive food at reasonable prices for such top quality. Excellent friendly and attentive service. You won't find better in France or Italy... let alone in the back blocks of NSW!!

Description
Our restaurant is a reflection of Rick's passion for seafood and the coastal lifestyle which he has enjoyed for most of his life. As he says: "nothing is so exhilarating as fresh fish, simply cooked". He believes that fresh seafood should speak for itself. While he enjoys occasional fine dining, his food is much more about what he really likes to eat: a plate of Clyde River oysters, a pot of Illawarra prawns with mayonnaise, a mound of spanner crab, a slice of blue eye or a perfectly grilled sand whiting. We like our service to be informal but observant and enjoy employing local people who may lack the total polish of fine dining restaurants, but who more than make up for it with a genuine welcome.Peter Bacon, General Manager
