Ok, so I haven't been here for a few years. New management with improved reviews, so I thought I would try again. Past experiences not good. Tonight I was there with my husband and 2 adult sons. First impression was off-putting. Hostess/waitress/bartender gal was wearing...More

My colleague and I were in Newtown for work, and someone recommended Black Horse. We didn't have a car, so we decided to try it. Ubered in and immediately liked the atmosphere. A couple of guys were playing music and singing, and they were good,...More

This is my favorite Newtown eatery for steak, beer and conversation. It's a hangout for locals and very friendly.

This place is terrible, just terrible. bartender told us to find a table, waiter was disinterested (I'm sure he knew how poor the service and food were already), out of simple things on the menu, food took forever and when it came out it was...More

We always have a plan b for this spot. The piano bar can be very good or very bad, so take a moment to give a listen before sitting down. The first floor bar is a safer bet. The food is always good and even...More

The Black Horse is just average. They have a burger special on Wednesday for $7.00 a burger. It comes with chips. If you order a basket of fries, it is an $8.00 UP CHARGE! While the service is good, there are better specials in Newton.

Who doesn't love a neighborhood piano bar? The Black Horse is much more than this, though, with good food and a variety of entertainment. Bill and Francine keep the place lively and humming, while Kat & Nicky serve up drinks with a smile and conversation....More

This bar is a great place to get a hamburger. It is small the drinks are expensive but the crowd is very nice. The bartenders are friendly. Good for a quick trip or stop for a beer or drink.

I think the space could use some reconfiguring. The band that was there last Friday night was really outstanding. Skilled musicians. Not enough room for the people dancing, serving, hanging out in the room. Husband ordered nachos and cheese, and sandwich. I had salad. Actually,...More

Not the friendliest place around. The back room tables have white linen tablecloths, nice if you want a formal dinner. The front room is more of a bar atmosphere with the high tops pretty tight together. IMHO fairly pricey, $8 for draft beers. We went...More
