Loved the food. The soups are awesome, the blackened prime rib is always great and the service is always top notch

Made reservations the day before, which that was very nice they accept them. The place has a very rustic feel for a small town gem. I ordered a drink called "the lantern" from their menu, and it was excellent. They offer a large wine menu, along with dozens of beer choices as well. While waiting for the rest of my... More

The Yellow Dog Lantern is placed in an odd place for a four fork restaurant. Parking is hit or miss for on street parking, and no lot is provided. Once inside the atmosphere is warm, but slightly dark. Carpeting and booths are in good condition. It is not locked into a time warp like many eateries in Venango County. The... More

Have been hearing how good the food is here so we decided to try it. I was sadly disappointed in the meal I had. I was good but didn't feel it was that great for the price.

This is a restaurant who has been in business continually for many, many years. It was now been purchased by a former chef and his fiancé. They have not changed it so it remains producing excellent food in this area where oil was discovered. Oil City was the home of Quaker State and Pennzoil so when you enter this restaurant... More

Lovely restaurant with friendly and knowledgeable staff. The nightly specials are a testimony that the Chef in innovative and delivers on big flavors. The use of fresh and top grade ingredients comes thru with every bite you take. The wine list and cocktail menu are proof that a small town can provide a big town selection of innovation. I requested... More

Fantastic dinner, service was absolutely wonderful. We were serviced promptly, but never rushed and our server's attitude was delightful with a wonderful smile. Food, drinks, and appetizers were brought in a very timely fashion. The food was great, perfectly cooked to order and exceptional taste.

Very nice little restaurant. Excellent selection of beer. Quiet, dark, and a local after work hangout for people in the area, it seems. The swordfish and fried green tomatoes was particularly delicious.

The Yellow Dog Lantern is by far the best restaurant in town. The food is exquisite. The service is first class. The ambiance is like taking a step back in time to a life that is more serene and relaxed. We save this place for very special occasions.
