This is the best sushi place in town, best sushi place I've ever been to. The rock shrimp and the cod are the most amazing things ever.lol the red snapper with truffle oil is my favorite also. You can't go wrong here. Worth every penny.

Several of us were unsure of these exotic foods when we sat down for our evening out. We were quickly convinced! The black cod melted our hearts as it melted in our mouths. Rock shrimp Tempura: WOW, taste & texture impressed! And the ebi stuffed shiitake were so delicious. Sorbet for dessert stunned tastebuds. A memorable birthday celebration!

Located somewhat obscurely on the third floor of Soba, Umi's sister restaurant, this is the finest upscale place in Pittsburgh for sushi. All of parent company Big Burrito's restaurants have a high standard, but at Umi one quickly forgets that it's part of a larger entity, as it's so chef-driven. It's my understanding that Umi is only open when Mr.... More

After having eaten at most of the best sushi restaurants in many major cities, including Philadelphia, Chicago, New York, San Francisco, Paris, and Rome, who would predict the best sushi dinner in my life was to be found in Shadyside, Pittsburgh. I ordered the 11 course chef's omekase, and not a single plate was less than superb. Expensive, but worth... More

I must say I have mixed feelings about this place. The fish was really tasty and the nigiri fish to rice ratio was good, but the fish cuts were much too small for proper sushi, let alone for this price point. I also could not taste the fish straight up since each piece had something on it. Appetizers were good... More
