Istanbul Sofra has a casual, fresh environment with paprika and cerulean walls, colorful menus and sparkly hanging Turkish mosaic light fixtures. Outdoor seating on busy Braddock Avenue also is available, weather permitting.
The hummus and pita bread were divine. The grilled lamb was tender and packed full of flavor. The speciality was lamb stuffed eggplant and it was tasty. The chicken was so so. Dessert was fair but we’ve never ate Turkish so that may be the...More
There were 6 of us for dinner. All of us loved our food. I highly recommend getting cold sampler and hot sampler platters. Great way to try the cuisine.
Waitress was very helpful explaining the dishes to us. Owner came to table several times to...More

Although I've never had a meal here, I have had the Baklava numerous times. It's truly the best Baklava I've ever had...even comparing it to "authentic" Baklava I've had over in Europe. It's not dense and not overly sweet, absolutely delicious!
I lived in Istanbul for 6 months and was very excited to see an authentic Turkish restaurant in Pittsburgh which represents the former Ottoman capital. The food was delicious and the service very gracious. The menu was limited but very solid. The tea was particularly...More
While some might find the size and the relative lack of ostentation off-putting, we found Istanbul Sofra to be charming, unpretentious and well-worth the drive. Our server was a young Turkish woman who was taking her Master's at Carnegie Mellon, and at least half the...More
I really enjoyed the food here. I went in the evening close to the finishing time but was served nevertheless. I ordered chicken kebab with rice and I must say the kebab tasted amazing. I also ordered falafel as starter which was standard good taste.
En route to Fallingwater in Mill Run we stopped for lunch in Pittsburgh’s highly-rated Turkish restaurant for lunch. We were delighted with the friendly service, charming authentic decor and delicious well-prepared food. The falafel got raves as did the lentil soup and stuffed eggplant dish....More
I posted a strongly positive review of Istanbul Sofra a few years ago, and have very much enjoyed all my visits since then. My wife and I visited last night, and I just want to confirm that the food is still excellent and the visual...More

Parking is usually easier on East End or any street parallel to South Braddock, it's a very quick walk (3 minutes maybe depending on how far down you have to park). There may be spots on Forbes, but limited, parking on South Braddock isn't easy either because traffic can be busy, but if you get a spot you've got rock star parking. The food is worth any time you have to take to find a spot.
