Spats is by far my favorite restaurant in State College. I have always enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. My husband and I made reservations and were seated at one of the tables by the window, looking out onto College Avenue and the Penn State campus across the street. Our waitress Alicia was the best! Since we made reservations ahead... More
We had a nice dinner. There were 4 of us and everyone enjoyed the meal. My husband had the steamed mussels, I had the oysters , the other 2 had gumbo and braised ribs and we each had a salad. I was not super fond of the chopped salad but everyone else was satisfied with their selection. We enjoyed a... More
We had a delightful dinner at Spatts. The dinner was elegant, tasty and served by an enthusiastic waitperson. We ordered from a list of chef specials for the night and both of us had the seafood dish of scallops, shrimp over pasta with a cheese-creamy sauce. I would order the same if offered again. The service was extra special -... More
Spats has not been part of our dining out experience but we went Saturday night to take advantage of a gift card. Our meals were fabulous! We started with a mixed green salad. We had the shrimp, scallops, pasta special that was delightful - full of flavor! I can't wait to return and try more dishes. Our server, Jade, was... More
We have been going to Spats for special events and intimate meals for years. It is by far the best restaurant in State College. If you have not been...we highly recommend. Great, attentive, knowledgeable & welcoming staff. Great food & wine. Duke, you keep doing it so well!
While in town for the day, we were looking for a place to have lunch. We took a look at the menu and decided to try Spats. My bf had the lunch special, a pan fried fillet and it was to die for. It was truly something special. I had the gumbo and chopped salad lunch combo and it was... More
I enjoyed this restaurant. It wasn't knock-you-over type food, but it was good and the atmosphere was nice. I had the duck, which was great in my opinion. A nice wine list all things considered. And, the rest of the plates looked excellent.
Have not been here for a while, so was hoping for a nice lunch. Service was somewhat awkward as our waitress wasn't as efficient as other wait staff. The food was okay, but simply lacked execution. The crab bisque was the highlight of our meals. Overall, there's much better options for dining in State College.
This has always been a favorite of mine, and now that we're back in the area, I was lucky enough to dine here for a business meeting about 10 days ago. And lucky for me, the food and atmosphere is still as good as it always has been! Our waitress was kind and attentive and very quick to handle our... More
