Visiting Charleston and stopped here on the way out of town. I loved this place, from the kitschiness of the signage and decor to the food. It's kind of a interesting setting...you walk in an order your food and they give you a picture to...More

I spent a few days at the islands around Charleston and by far and away the best meal I had was at the Glass Onion. You can dine on the ocean but you won't find food to top this. The next time I'm in the...More

Great southern comfort food with a great service staff. Saw them originally on Diners, Drive Inns and Dives, where they were highly recommended. The Glass Onion is much better in person than they were on the show. It is an easy and friendly place with...More

The Glass Onion was excellent. We arrived in Charleston by plane and were hungry after our all-day travels. We chose a restaurant near our hotel by using Trip Advisor reviews and were not disappointed. Our server was helpful and knew her menu selections well. The...More

Hubby got fried chicken and daughter and I got egg salad. Best egg salad sandwich I've had in a restaurant. Bread was amazing and super soft on the inside and a bit crispy on the outside. Bourbon drenched bread pudding. To die for!

This is a restaurant with a limited creative menu that always exceeds your expectations. It is always busy whether it's brunch, lunch or dinner. No reservations so it's wise to call ahead and see how busy it is! Decided to return and take a family...More

The fried chicken, mashed potatoes and collard greens were great! No mushy canned greens here. Had a smoked honey whiskey sour that was unique and delicious. And the bread pudding with whiskey sauce was so rich. Delicious! Oh, and did I mention the very friendly...More

Sorry I only see your question now. If I recall, the meal was around $18, and a drink about 3. Add tip, about $25. I came out with the impression of having had a good bargain.

The Glass Onion is one of Charleston’s original home grown, locally focused, all-natural restaurants. Owner and Executive Chef Chris Stewart opened the restaurant in 2008 with fellow culinary colleagues. It was one of the first places in town to support local farmers and purveyors with almost every dish and drink. An eighth generation Alabama native, Stewart’s love and appreciation of southern food shows through his menu. His restaurant boasts comfort food that reflects his time growing up in Alabama, as well as New Orleans and Lowcountry influences. The ever-evolving menu changes daily and features as many local, all natural, hormone-free ingredients as possible. The soulful food draws influence from Stewart’s southern heritage and family recipes, especially from his grandmother Jennie Ruth; and is available for lunch, dinner and Saturday brunch.
