Today is the last day for Cypress. A shame that it is going away, but progress stops for no one even in Charleston. Great food and serious selection of spirits and wine.

My wife and I arrived into town after a long days drive and wandered into the Cypress. We found it to be very comfortable, cool and quiet ... just what we needed after a long day on the road. The food is somewhat upscale; wonderfully prepared and presented. The service was outstanding. And it's in the heart of the historic... More

Everything about this restaurant was fantastic, from the food to the wine to the ambiance. But there is no point in writing any more because we were told by the general manager that this restaurant is closing in a week (she said the last day would be Sunday, May 28). So disappointed! We would have loved to go back again.

We capped-off the night with some drinks at Cypress, on their second level overlooking E Bay St... nicely designed with exposed brick walls, glass partitions and comfortable seating. It felt more like sitting in a club room, than a typical bar. I recommend trying to get a table in the window area.

I was with a group consisting of three couples and no one was blown away by the food. The special was a large bone-in ribeye. The meat was pretty good, but they drown the steak in a sauce. It would have been much better to allow the steak to stand on its own and put the sauce in a side... More

There are to many wonderful places to choose in Charleston to have snobby service with food not prepared to order. The server had to ask the chef if you could substitute side dishes and the "medium rare" tuna was so rare it was still cold and when it came back it was over cooked. My husbands chicken tasted boiled and... More

I made reservations in February to celebrate my daughter's graduation on Friday, May 12 and had alerted the restaurant this was a special occasion. We arrived on time and were promptly seated in a cozy booth. A congenial server introduced herself and brought menus. It was after we ordered our drinks, that service ground to almost a halt. They took... More

Atmosphere is nice, but the food is sensational. Server was well informed describing the items on the menu. Selections are limited, but a\gourmet quality. Relaxed atmosphere and the server assured us that we could stay and take our time ordering, eating, etc. We selected the fillet and the "steak Diane" sirloin. Both outstanding. Some of the best steaks that we've... More

The restaurant is quite dramatic with lights on the ceiling that slowly change color, interesting décor. We had a Caesar salad made at the table and while it is fun to see such a salad made, it wasn't the best I've ever tasted. Grilled salmon was Ok but had an odd tomato mole and corn salad with it that just... More
