My wife and I had dinner there this past Sat. The atmosphere is all Charleston. Great place to take a small group, or a romantic couples dinner. The food is flat out amazing. Sweet potato donuts---an absolute must.

Went here last night with friends the food and service was fabulous. Our waiter Brian could not have been more friendly and attentive. He was very knowledgeable about the wine selections and menu. I had the beef dish and it was very tender and delicious. My friend had the Salmon dish, she said it was the best salmon she ever... More

The restaurant has a lovely ambiance and a superb waitstaff; the only problem is that the quality of the food was not up to the surroundings or the staff. Perhaps it was because it was still Restaurant Week in Charleston. Appetizers and desserts bit better than entrees.

My wife and I came here for 2017 restaurant week and loved it. The place is popular so you need to book in advance but it's worth it. Restaurant week menu was varied in it's selection - even catering for the vegetarian in me and were able to swap out some options. The atmosphere is delightful, service excellent and you... More

There are so many outstanding Michelin-type restaurants in Charleston, South Carolina, that a traveler simply doesn't have enough time to sample them all during one vacation trip. Maybe two--if you spend five days on each trip. But which one is the best? Surely, Circa 1886 is in the conversation. Located in the original carriage house of the historic Wentworth Mansion... Went for restaurant week. The food was great, the wine paring was excellent and a very good value. Our waiter Austin was one of the best. He knew the food, knew the wines and made the experience a memorable one.

My husband, brother in law and I had dinner here during restaurant week! We took the special deal and did the wine paring with dinner! Wow! We each had a choice of appetizer, entree and dessert! My favorite app was the scallops! Amazing! They were cooked perfect! Dinner was delicious and even though I never thought to try Antelope, it... More

Intimate and historic restaurant--best for couples or small groups who want creative and delicious food with outstanding service . Wine list is extensive and excellent. Chef is innovative and gives tastings of recent creations while you wait for your appetisers. Including sweet potato and bacon purée and creamy tomato bisque. Bread was fresh with orange infused butter. I had salmon... More

We celebrated my birthday at Circa 1886 and it was lovely! We all had the tasting menu with paired wines, it was perfect. Instead of small tastes of wine, we were pleased with the generous glasses with each course. The atmosphere is very nice and cozy. We really enjoyed our evening and will return.

Description
Chef Marc Collins draws inspiration from many cuisines around the world to create a menu that is truly unique to the Charleston restaurant scene. Drawing inspiration from historic Southern dishes and always highlighting what is local and in season, Chef Collins puts a healthful, distinctive spin on classic Lowcountry dishes. This means there is less butter and cream than typically seen on Southern menus. Whole grains are incorporated to dishes and ingredients are used at the peak of flavor. The result is satisfying dishes that retain their bright, bold flavors without the large amounts of fat found in many restaurant dishes. From our Plantation Rice Bread Rolls made in house daily, to the selection of local seafood, to Pastry Chef Lovorn’s incredible desserts, each dinner at Circa 1886 celebrates the region we call home. Let our professional, attentive, experienced and knowledgeable staff guide you through the menu and help select a wine that is a perfect pairing for food and budget.
