The Salty Dog was good - lots of shopping and things to do. The food was pretty mediocre for the price. Probably wouldn't go back for dinner but would visit the grounds again. Our server was very sweet and attentive.

Having lived on the East Coast my whole life I see "Salty Dog" shirts and memorabilia everywhere I go. When I was in Hilton Head for vacation I couldn't help but make the stop, even though the reviews nail it as pricey and touristy. First...More

Can't visit the island without a stop in this marina based complex. Nothing like slamming down a Salty Dog after a hot, humid sunbaker on the beach to get yoir evening started. Classic touristy shops will open up your wallet.

People kept telling us we HAD to go. We did. It was fine but didn't blow us away. Homemade ice cream shops all over the island and they are al delicious. Didn't need to spend $6 to get onto the plantation just for this. And...More

This was our first trip to Salty Dog Cafe. We waited for about 1 1/2 hours and ended up sitting on the back patio in the sweltering heat. Our waiter did a good job of making sure we had plenty to drink (cokes/water) while waiting...More

Our kids, 17 and 11, begged to come here. It was a 2 hour wait, which we had heard and expected. They do offer shops and a bonfire to hangout while you wait. The food is nothing special. They do have live acoustic before 9pm,...More

Although the hour wait was rough, there is plenty to see and walk around to look at. Once we were seated we ordered our food and drinks. The crab cake was lovely and the fries were also good. It was so nice outside and we...More

Fun atmosphere and hands down some of the best service I have had at a restaurant. Short wait for a table, but they give you a pager that is good anywhere in the little shopping area. We took advantage of this and stopped to buy...More

I don't recall any specifics on the menu about being gluten free, but they were very accommodating in general and there were plenty of gluten free options from my recollection.
