The pulled pork is heavenly, especially with their sauces, but the fried chicken is addictive, not to mention the green beans, collards, and cabbage stew. Another real standout is the 'hash"-- a gravy made from country ham that is spectacular with rice.

Our next stop on the South Carolina barbecue trail was this very well known place in Manning, SC. The pork was very good, the sauce was vinegar style, the ambiance was typical barbecue, Mr. McCabe and his staff were more than friendly. The sides were special, including the greens, slaw, mac, hushpuppies, and hash, composed of...well, don't ask. There's no... More

Four of us had lunch at McCabe's and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a small, fairly non-descript place with great food and wonderful people. And the price is reasonable. We had a delightful conversation with the owner and enjoyed the food. We especially liked the pulled pork, hush puppies, greens, and tomatoes with okra. The coleslaw, made with locally grown and... If you're looking for really good BBQ (not atmosphere), McCabe's is the place to eat. We loved the BBQ -- recommend extra, extra sauce. Check their hours of operation- they close earlier than most restaurants. Worth a special trip!

For my husband, BBQ is almost a religion. For me, raised in the north, I needed to learn what the South calls BBQ, because it isn't the reddish brown stuff slathered onto grilled meat that I grew up thinking of as BBQ. We've eaten at BBQ places in VA, NC, GA and all over SC - restaurants, buffets, holes in... More

During the summer, bears often wander far from their homes in search of foods that will be delicious and help them to put on weight for winter hibernation. Sometimes they find something that is so delightful that they plan on returning many times. McCabes is a perfect example of a place bears will return to again and again. While the... More

If you aren't looking for this place, you will miss it. Tucked in between 2 other buildings is hidden a jewel of a restaurant. This is the perfect example of "do one thing and do it well." This is pulled pork with a vinegar sauce done well. Don't expect frills here, there are none. Limited choices on a small buffet. When I went... More

If you aren't looking for it you may miss it- we had never been so we drove off the beaten path and followed map until we found it. Well worth a stop since it has such notoriety & we can say we have been there. We had the bbq sandwich and the meat was tough and dry. We used a... More

This may or may not be a good restaurant. It's only open on the weekends. We got off I95 to go to this restaurant only to find it closed.

Driving north on I95, this was a bit off the beaten path, at least the way my GPS took us. We got off at exit 115 then drove through the town of Manning and out the other side. It would have probably been quicker to get off at exit 122. But going through town gave us the chance to find... More
