As an avid Starbucks drinker I was excited to discover Wards served up lattes, I needed a good jolt and wasn't disappointed by the accompanying donuts. If I stop back again I would love to try their breakfast as the smell of bacon from the back was mouth watering. Great friendly service and small town charm.

To be fair, we stopped in on the first day the place was open after being closed due to the owners being on vacation. After hearing about the great pastries, we found a case that had maybe 10 items in it and they weren't super fresh or tasty. The service was very good and our breakfast was nice. The best... More

My sister, mom and I ate lunch here. There wasn't much to choose from, but the food was good. It's in the middle of a tourist-type merchandise store (so you can shop while waiting for your meal). They don't bring you a check when you're done, which took as a while to realize. It was waiting for us at the... More

A must-stop if only for the historical significance of the building site and a donut. If you plan to eat a meal, definitely call ahead or stop by a day before to see when their meal times are. We hoped to get breakfast but got there too late. Coffee and donuts were delicious, so we managed. Their food menu looked... More

Not the best food or service, but there aren't a lot of choices in town. The store itself is interesting and there are some antiques to poke at while you wait for service, so that's something.

Another kind local recommended this cafe, so we found ourselves here for a quick bite. Options were limited as it was after 1. This is truly a local spot & gave us a glimpse of modern day life in De Smet. The restaurant seating is in the center of the store & is family owned and operated by the same... More

This is truly the local conversation spot, which happily gave me a glimpse of modern day DeSmet! Friendly smiles and chatter, topped off with a mighty fine breakfast! I found the biscuits and gravy hearty and tasty (its not lady-like for me to say, but if I'd been at home I would have licked my plate of every last bit... More

Lunch was good but not exceptional. The cappuccino was fabulous. Friendly fast service. We would return if in De Smet again.

Lots of funny looks given by the locals! Probably because I was taking pictures of pickled sausage in a jar. What can I say, I grew up in NY, I've never seen such a thing! Many local products but nothing we were too interested in. Yummy donuts according to my son, lousy coffee according to my husband. It's a must to... More

Lunch in a historic building, what a pleasure. also being able to buy SD. products. Good old fashioned food and a bakery to boot. Get a cool cup of Jo or a frozen one.
