Why did we name our bar the Slime Plant Bar & Lounge? In a word, gold. In mining terminology, the liquid mix of gold ore and water is called slime.
Back in 1906, the Deadwood Mountain Grand building was constructed as a plant to eke gold from the slippery slurry pumped from the Homestake Mine in Lead. For seven decades, locals called this Deadwood landmark "the Slime Plant."
So with a tip of the glass to the mine workers of Deadwood's past, we named our bar the Slime Plant Bar & Lounge.
With the comfortable, upscale surroundings, relaxed atmosphere and live entertainment at today’s Slime Plant Bar & Lounge, those miners wouldn't recognize their former workplace.
So when you sit down for a cool drink at the Slime Plant Bar & Lounge, raise a glass to the hard-working guys who once made their living here.
