I stopped on way through town. Only place open on winter mornings. Glad I stopped! Prices are a tad higher for a cafe, but the food lived up to the price. My breakfast burrito overstuffed and served with a homemade salsa. I will be back!

Totally stumbled on this place by accident. We decided to take a different route up from Custer (rather than taking the freeway to the east, we took the road going up through the gulch). We landed in Hill City hungry and decided on the Hill City cafe. It was delicious! Friendly staff and a great menu. I had a nice... More

Stopped for coffee and a roll. Not busy, but the gal behind the counter couldn't even look up to acknowledge us. Service from our waitress was good after the initial slow greeting. Coffee was good and hot. roll was tough from the microwave. :/

We like stopping by here for lunch. Their salad bar is really good. I especially like their coke slaw. It's nice to have lunch once in a while in a non chain store. Pro tip.... hold it. Their bathroom is tiny.

We stopped in to meet a friend, and had a good lunch. The salad bar has multiple choices. My husband had the Buffalo burger and it was pretty good. Good service, and of course very friendly, like everyone in Hill City.

Turned out Great! Good chicken fried steak and good salad bar. Service was friendly and the place was clean. Nowhere else to eat, but this was surprisingly good!

Hill City Cafe was really busy so thought that it would be really good. The food was pretty good but that was about all that was good about the experience. Firstly we were ignored for ages, then the food took rather a long time which is fair enough because it was busy. I had to call the server back for... More

My wife and I ate breakfast here twice and dinner once. All 3 meals were delicious. Home cooking comfort food. I'm 52 yrs old and the pancakes I had were probably the best I've eaten anywhere. Chicken fried steak is also very good. Dinner I had open faced roast beef and wife had a patty melt. Both were excellent. Service... More

We had a nice homemade meal and a nice experience. The waitress was very accommodating and showed our kids how to make soft serve ice cream cones. She was very hospitable and had no problems letting my husband and I share a meal. They make their own huge cinnamon rolls and pie. I had a wonderful piece of blueberry pie.

Pretty darned good food in a small town cafe environment. My wife had a buffalo steak and I had walleye. Both were well prepared and properly cooked. Service was great - our server was a delightful young Ukranian lady studying English in college. She spent summers working in the United States to improve her skills and was extending this stint...
