Since the new people took over the Hotel and the Pilchard Inn there has been a big improvement. The Sea Tractor now runs regularly so guests can now visit the pub and know, when the tide is in, that there will be frequent trips to...More

The pub itself is a totally atmospheric location with good views of the coast, a roaring fire and real history. A great place for lunch on a breezy day by the sea. Sadly for us that is where it ended. We had viewed their website...More

Went to the Pilchard Inn whilst staying at Bigbury-on-Sea for a drink. (didn’t eat so not commenting on food) Really enjoyed our visits and happy to now be allowed in the lounge area! We’ve read reviews about staff not being friendly, so felt the need...More

Rude and unhelpful barman. Expected better from this establishment as linked to Burgh Island Hotel. Terrible cup of tea - had to remove my own teabag!

Well the island is absolutely beautiful, but our visit to the Pilchard Inn was a real disappointment. I know we only wanted teas and coffees (but it did say ‘cafe’ on the wall). But the lack of interest in serving was dreadful. The coffee was...More
