My wife and I visited Beamers on Friday 8th March with four friends to try out their new fixed price menu. We did not really know what to expect but the starters and mains we selected were all really nice. The three men all had...rump steaks which were delicious and perfectly cooked. The ladies all selected fish dishes that were equally good and a great time was had by us all. We will certainly be back again soon :))More

The restaurant has changed hands since we were last here over a year ago and, out of season, we were the only diners, so the buzzy ambiance of our first visit was lacking. We noted more meat dishes on the menu, but were happy to...stick with the fish that we'd come for. The new owner did his best to make us welcome and we thoroughly enjoyed our wine and food from a good choice which was well cooked and presented. We hope Beamers manages to pick up the clientele it deserves as the season develops.More

A visit with family. Amazing food, superb service and lovely atmosphere. Delicious food and wine. We’ll be back for sure. Received a recommendation from a friend who dined on Valentines Day. Best meal out I’ve had in years!

From the moment we arrived at Beamers it was everything we hoped it would be. This is a restaurant that exemplifies service and quality in its food. An extensive menu including many dishes not generally offered elsewhere and each of the three courses we enjoyed...cooked to perfection. Wonderful service and we felt like valued guests from the moment we arrived until we departed. A final bonus is the envied position with many tables overlooking the quay. Highly recommended.More

Went here with friends and were surprised to be the only customers! This restaurant should be better supported by its local community. All four of us had different dishes, steak, monk fish, hake and a trio of fish and all of the food we had...was superb, not just good but superb! We will definitely be going back!More

Lovely restaurant with perfect view, friendly and attentive team that run it and delicious food. I enjoyed the lobster and the mussels were the best I've ever had. Will definitely return when next in the area.

We went with four friends to celebrate my 60th birthday, our table was decorated with happy birthday banners, which was a really lovely touch, the food was amazing as usual, 2 of our friends had never eaten there before and were really impressed with the...food and service.. The young lady who waited on us was so lovely and contrary to other comments, was very attentive. We live in Brixham and will continue to bring our visitors back to BeamersMore

We came with high expectations; they were disappointed. The food was of average quality, but nothing special; the fish croquette starter was served with ‘mayonnaise’ which had obviously come out of a tube, and the trio of fish main course would have been better grilled...than pan-fried. The wine list had very few wines by the glass - essentially ‘white red or rosé’. They had turbot on the menu which. according to our server, had probably been there two days or more. The service was enthusiastic rather than professional - the young lady did not seem to have had any formal training in hospitality. The owner was on holiday, and the ‘head chef’ on another site working in a fish and chip shop, so I wonder who had overall supervision.More

Thank you for your review. I’m sorry that you weren’t happy. Just to clarify, the trio is grilled, and our two chefs share duties, but either could be described fairly as “Head Chef” and either one or both are on duty. We are very well...More

Last night has to be the worst experience we have ever had in almost 35 years of travelling and visiting a so called ‘fine dinging restaurant’ We arrived at 6pm to be welcomed by a lady blowing up balloons, (there were no other guests there)...we were shown to our table overlooking the harbour and informed of the special for the evening. 20 mins later I asked the lady could we please have a drink, yip, you herd me right, nobody there and we were not offered a drink. When our drinks came, we the ordered our meal, (we didn’t order starters as we’d already been there for 40 mins. Food came 1/2 hour later, I had the lobster which was smothered in butter. My wife had the trio of fish which looked quite nice. We ate our food, (not once did anyone come over and ask if we wanted a l other drink. (we were only drinking soft drinks as I don’t drink alcohol) we then waited another 20mins before anyone came to take away our plates, it was now 7:20pm, I asked could we please have the bill. Another 15 mins, asked again, bill arrived, I went to the bathroom and seen a gentleman sitting on the work surface in the kitchen on his mobile phone. Says it all really!! We paid our bill and left. Absolutely shocking service, never againMore

Lovely food and service, but they took a £10 deposit on booking and didn't pay it back!! So although a nice evening with a tip given, we now feel a bit ripped off as the deposit was never returned !!

There’s no doubting the enjoyment we had from our eating at this listing. The food was expertly cooked and the taste was ‘up there’. Presentation too was good and the service generally was ‘on it’. Certainly the team members were polite and responsive and stand...out was the Philippino waitress, wife of the chef ! She was genuine and engaging and ‘interested’. What I’m struggling to justify is the cost of everything. It was noticeable from the off that prices here are toppy. No ‘Mains’ under £20 and it was £38 for the fillet steak I had. I thoroughly enjoyed it but…! The starters average £7ish and the same for desserts. One other consideration is the menu - and choice. No surprise that in Brixham there’s a predominance of fish and what we saw looked excellent. There’re 4 cuts of beef to consider and an excellent duck dish as well as a vegetarian option…but no other ‘mains’ meat. I live in the South East and am used to the London dining scene. I’m more than happy to pay above average prices but in this case, I’m not convinced that the overall experience justifies the cost of it ? That said, I wish Beamers well…More

A nice, elevated, fish restaurant in the gorgeous harbour area of Brixham – I imagine the views during the summer months must be fantastic. Personally I found the interiors a little old fashioned and quite dark – that may well be personal preference I guess...All that being said, the food was more than decent. I started with the fish croquettes which were a good size for a starter followed by the trio of Brixham landed fish. The highlight was definitely the red mullet (first time of trying) but the accompanying sides were just OK, boiled carrots and dauphinoise seemed a little out of place alongside delicate well cooked fish. The wine list was decent and the wait staff all very friendly. Overall, quite expensive but you could not fault the qualityMore
