I went to the Mill end for lunch and it was amazing. It's a bit out of the way but well worth the drive. The staff are very accommodating and the food is out of this world, the Sauvignon Blanc wine was well worth ordering. The rooms were all dressed in a period janrer and the added Xmas decorations did... More

We stayed at the Mill End about fifteen years ago and returned for lunch during a recent visit. We started with drinks in the living room, which seemed a bit run down - stains on the rug, spilled sugar under a table, etc. The lunch menu was not as creative as we had hoped or experienced before. Soup was good,... More

We are sorry to read about your disappointment and would urge you please to try normal lunch or dinner if you are looking for a more creative offering. Our Sunday lunch remains fairly traditional and I am very pleased to say our lounges were all refurbished just before Christmas as part of the ongoing updates we are putting in More

I cannot comment on the hotel side of this establishment but I fail to understand why people love this restaurant. My experience was so disappointing. Service and food were pretentious and staff training was poor. For instance, a waiter served my main course, noticed my side plate was still on the table and reached in front of me to remove... I really am sorry to read this. Our reviews are mostly incredibly positive for both service and the food and clearly we fell short of our normal standard on this occasion. Please accept my apologies and thank you for bringing this to our attention More

We went for Sunday lunch in the restaurant and we really enjoyed it. The food and service were both excellent and it really felt special. The setting and decor topped off the experience beautifully.

I could not fault the accommodation food and service. The hotel is situated in a lovely area with spacious grounds surrounded by plenty of opportunity for walks in the countryside. There is even a boot room where you can wash you muddy dog with clean towels provided, it is so nice to stay in a good hotel and be made... More

Food is fine and it should work but despite the wonderful location it slightly lacks atmosphere and character.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review . If you came to us in the winter it may have been quieter than normal but rest assured in busier months our public areas are always bustling with a good atmosphere. The Mill is a lovely building that's over 500 years old with various nooks and crannies for a... More

The food here is excellent, and the service is well beyond expectations. We are already looking to plan another trip to Dartmoor just to have another evening here.

A group of us came for afternoon tea here, and it was lovely, the food was excellent with a great range and the setting was beautiful. We didn't quite have enough coffee to go around those who were drinking coffee, but the tea stretched far enough. Though we were told what each tier was compiled of, we didn't quite understand,... We only stayed for one night and had one of the best evening meals we have had in a very long time. The service was exemplary and the food was presented as if we were in a 5* London Hotel. Everything was cooked to absolute perfection and it was a true delight to dine there. The staff were most attentive... More

A wonderful historic country retreat in the wilds of Dartmoor National Park, Mill End Restaurant is set within the boutique hotel of the same name. Dating back to the 15th century, Mill End is a beautifully preserved and sympathetically modernised building, at one time home to Sir Frank Whittle, inventor of the jet engine. The classic-modern dcor of the restaurant itself provides a light dining space during the day, become more intimate in the evening as the sun goes down and subdued lighting takes over. The shimmering silverware and polished glasses on pressed white tablecloths make the restaurant seem upmarket and romantic, as does of course the superb menu. Wayne Pearson oversees the kitchen here at Mill End, working with his team to prepare and serve freshly prepared high end cuisine making excellent use of the abundant local produce including fish from the Devon coast, locally grown vegetables and beef and game from the surrounding countryside. From relaxed breakfasts to hearty lunches, indulgent afternoon teas and refined dinners Mill End offers a stunning dining experience.
