Three generations of us descended on Whiddons at lunch time - some of us demanding cream tea, others wanting lunch! The lady owner couldn't have been kinder or more accommodating and the chef did us proud. We all ended up having lunch because the menu was nicely varied: my cray fish and smoked salmon salad was delicious, the ham in... More

We went here because of all the good reviews but were very disappointed. The food was ok but slow cooked beef was tough & the plaice dish was nothing to get excited about with no flavour. Dessert was better but we would not recommend this place. It is stuck in a time warp, very dated with no atmosphere. Maybe just... More

We booked this restaurant after reading the reviews and this did not disappoint. We went back every night for three nights. The food was wonderful, the service was great. Andrea is a wonderful host and Paul is a great chef. It is a very pretty cosy place and my husband and I loved it. I am very fussy where I... More

Just had a meal at Whiddons Bistro. The food was very good, we are Vegetarian and they catered for us well. But what shines most about this place is the lovely service. The lady that owns and served us was a very lovely lady with a smile which to me is sometimes what is nice about a place. You can... More

We booked into Whiddons Bistro as it had good reviews! It did not disappoint. We visited for Easter Sunday lunch and found the food was delicious, I had the roast lamb and others had the chicken breast. For dessert, the lemon posset was very flavoursome, light and refreshing! But most of all, the service was lovely and personable.....there was no... More

Can't pass through Chagford without stopping at Whiddons for a quick lunch. Opted for the Salmon and Prawn Mornay from the specials menu. It came with crushed new potatoes and side salad. You can so taste that everything is fresh and home cooked to order. And such good value at only £10! A bowl of Turkish Delight ice-cream rounded everything... More

Lovely little Bistro, the food is great and the care taken to please was fantastic. Nothing was to much trouble. Food intolerances taken seriously and catered for without fuss. Will visit again.

I wanted somewhere small and intimate for a birthday meal with friends for my husband. We had a warm welcome on a horrid rainy evening. We were made to feel very welcome and it was nice to have nibbles whilst we were deciding what go have. The menu choice was nicely balanced with 5 choices. My starter of mushroom risotto was... More

A superb meal, a warm welcome and lots of good food - we can highly recommend the delicious home made fish cakes and excellent side salad. Stumbled upon in a bitterly cold rainstorm, we were given a very friendly welcome. This little haven couldn't have been better, food for both the soul and the stomach, and we will definitely be... Had a brilliant evening in this establishment just over a week ago. A party of 7 but have been with double that amount before. The welcome was warm, the food was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. All dietary needs catered for (advanced knowledge of this helps).
