Arrived for dinner and only two other couples in the restaurant. From word go the service was very poor. Very inexperienced staff who were more intent on speaking to each other than dealing with customers. Wine served in warm glasses and bottle left for you...to open and pour yourself. For starters I had the soufflé, which was more the consistency of scambled eggs and probably microwaved. My partner had scallops, which were nice but sparse. For main I had haddock which was ok but served with coleslaw which didn’t really work. My partner had venison which was lovely but again, small portions. Overall the meal was ok, but the service was so poor. Won’t be back.More

This was an odd dinner out; some parts were terrific, some parts terrible, with very little in between. Our table was next to the wine fridges and the coffee machine, so staff were continually to and fro past our table. Worse still, every time a...coffee was ordered a server had to bang the grounds container several times to get the old grounds out. This was very noisy and startling and disruptive, which put paid to the quiet romantic evening we had in mind. Then the wild mushroom linguine chosen by my vegetarian companion was bland and drowned in sauce, and to add insult to injury, the only accompanying proteins offered were chicken or prawn. Vegetarians need protein too! And my 'pannacotta' was served in a shallow stemmed glass which contained much more whipped cream than 'pannacotta' (there seemed to be a tablespoonful of something slightly different from the cream in the bottom of the glass, but I couldn't really tell). On the plus side, I asked for a local savoury gin as my aperitif, and was given a Darnley's Haar which I hadn't had before and which was so delicious I visited the distillery to buy a bottle. And my fillet steak and chips was excellent - I realised after a few bites that I hadn't been offered a steak knife, which was fine because I didn't need one, and that says it all really. So there were some very good elements, and the staff were friendly and happy to discuss the provenance of the food, but I wouldn't eat here again any time soon.More

Been here many times before and have alway enjoyed the food but today was a total farce .Had smoked salmon balls for starters .Three tiny balls served with nice salad and a dollop of mayonnaise .Then onto battered fish and chips with peas .Well they...must have really battered that fish as it did shrink with fright . Obviously a medium sized fillet cut into two .How a chef could possibly think this was acceptable and pass it as a regular main meal is beyond me and have the nerve to charge you £15 for the privilege .Don't go in hungry as you will come still hungryMore

Really nice pub, pleasent outlook from beer garden, which is down 2 flight's of stairs not for the faint hearted or less mobile visitors, dog/husband friendly!! Bar staff all friendly quite good prices which is always a bonus, we didn't eat here so can't comment...on food, worth a visit though, enjoy!!More

After passing in the car the outside looked beautiful, very inviting so we went the next evening. The waitress was lovely and found us a table straight away. We had drinks then waited quite a while to give food orders. Then quite a wait for...the food to arrive. It was very busy. Starters we had were smoked haddock Bon Bon which were 3 very small Bon Bon nice and crispy but more potato than fish. Plus cheesy garlic bread the opposite!! Far too much for a starter. Mains All served on cold plates ! Burger - very dry patties. Lasagna- was quite tasty but salad more of a garnish than ‘salad’ Parmesan Chicken- some of the veg was cold as on a cold plate the chicken I expected a chicken breast not an oblong piece of coated chicken. It also said sauté potatoes which I thought would be a separate vegetable not 3 bits mixed with the veg. Waitress was friendlyMore

Lovely meal out at The Bank. Delighted to see a vegan menu giving a rare chance to choose from several options and not just the usual one. Really enjoyed the meal and the service. Good value, good atmosphere and good view out to sea. Would...definitely return.More

We’ve visited here a few times but never again. The waitress this time was surly brought our drinks to us and took our order. Our starters then main course were ‘put down’ without a word and we never saw her again till we were finished...and she came back and barked ‘DONE’ at us ! The food wasn’t great this time but we were never asked. She asked if we wanted the dessert menu but we just asked for the bill. Cash payment well in excess of cost was put on the bill tray which she collected, again without a word and we sat a good five minutes finishing our drinks …….. but she didn’t bring change back or return to clear our glasses. We were going to tip even although her attitude was dire but to make no attempt to give change is unacceptable. The place was empty by this time so no excuse. We didn’t bother to ask for it when we left but saw her at the service area of the bar chatting to barman and drinking. We certainly will not return or recommend .More

Whoever said Tired and disinterested staff hit the nail on the head. Our waitress brought little personality to the table. She had no reply to my concern about the order and never came back once to find out how things were. I saw one of...the staff standing at the bar station chatting almost the entire time. A big mistake. Never to return.More

Booked a table for 12 for important lunch on first family get together since pandemic. Booked in advance. no issues raised by the Bank to accommodate 12 people. arrived and directed to two separate tables (not previously advised of this change) splitting the group but...within the same area of the restaurant. A table for 8 was provided and table for 4 was provided. enquired if there was a solution. staff unhelpful and said no solution. only stated that they personally were unaware of the booking until they came in that morning. and also that "it IS a table for 12 just two tables". entirely ignorant, dismissive throughout and declined our suggestion we could put the table of 4 onto the table of 8. they raised the concern that people sitting on the end of the long 12 people would have people on the end blocking the passageways which was nonsense and as no end seats were required. We had no option but to stay with them for lunch as we had children in our party and no time to rebook somewhere with more pleasant staff. This was not ideal as we then discovered the food was generally average with one of our party discovering hairs in her food which seemed like eye lashes and some head hair. They did bring her fresh food. overall bad experience with poorly trained staff with no interest in resolving what we felt was politely outlined very valid issue. if we were advised in advance we could have planned differently.More

While staying in Anstruther, we always dine in our opinion, one of the best local restaurants in the area of Fife. Wonderful food - top quality, excellent service from a young team of servers who are very friendly and accommodating. We also like the bar...which has a great atmosphere. Recommend.More
