This former village pub with exposed wooden beams and brick work was converted into a charming country "restaurant with rooms" 10 years ago. We had a 2-couples lunch here today by a roaring fire in the stove. Every course was full of flavour, locally solurced, well planned and executed, each containing a little surprise. The portions were a very sensible... More

I read the reviews and decided it was somewhat of a destination restaurant. Not really. Pretty good, but not worth a repeat visit unless you lived in the area and had no desire to travel.

We went to Barley Bree for the first time to celebrate our wedding anniversary. After a slow start (there was a large party in, but we had been warned about that when booking) we had one of the best meals I have had out this year. The starter in particular was a very delicate combination of steamed scallops and mussels... More

Food here was a treat. A restaurant of this quality in a village the size of Muthill was a real surprise. The dining room is cozy with a wood burning fireplace and very inviting. We had the pigeon starter...delicious. One of us had veal with cheek...melt in your mouth good. The other had saddle of lamb. Also fabulous. Can't wait... More

The restaurant/hotel is inauspicious from the outside. Muthill tries hard to look pretty with flower boxes and decorations. The Barley Bree is worth seeking out, presents a high standard of food by helpful staff.

Staying only a few miles from Muthill we have been saying for some time that we must "give Barley Bree a try" so having received a gift of vouchers for the restaurant we did just that. We had a most enjoyable lunch and will certainly make a return visit in the very near future. The chef/owner is French so you... More

Attended a wedding here in the summer but forgot to complete a review. Lovely decor, brilliantly organised wedding. Staff great and food excellent. Have always wanted to dine at Barley Bree but as we live over half an hour away we would prefer to stay the night so that we could both have a drink or 2. Unfortunately the cost... More

This has become our restaurant of choice for a special evening (or lunch) and the quality of the food and wine on offer is up there with the best available in the locale (including it's neighbouring Gleneagles). Always has a cozy atmosphere and the service is spot on. Don't hesitate - pay it a visit soon.

I organised a golfing trip for ten people and we based ourselves out of the Barley Bree. Alison and Fabrice were absolutely amazing, along with all of their staff. Nothing was too much trouble and every need we had as a group was delivered with a smile. The entire group were unanimous that this is one one the best venues... More
