Visited the place last summer. Venison starter was a joke, small and as thin as possible slices with a 'fancy' decor. Marinated chicken breast was basically bland. Definitely overpriced.

Honestly the worst place I have stayed in my life. I paid for private accommodation which was more expensive than private hostel accommodation in London. What I got was a tiny room with a tiny sink, a broken heater, no shower in the room or toilet. When you went to the shower the hot water didn't work and the water... More

Dec 27th and there is no heating on and no fire lit despite us telling them we're really cold and begging for the fire to be lit. The bar is full of people with wooly hats and jackets on. We'll not be back.

Nice wee place. It didn't look much from outside. The digs where clean & tidy. The food in the bar was really good.

My gin and tonic came with the whole bottle of tonic already poured into the gin - perhaps a ruse to serve only a half measure of gin - it was certainly the weakest I've ever had. My friend asked for an elderflower cordial but the waitress didn't know what that was and offered all sorts of bizarre alternatives. My... More

It would appear that this reviewer is 85 and embodies some of the quirky characteristics of highland scottish persona. She has contacted us to complain about our robust initial response to her review and to demand an apology. We are happy to provide such in return for likewise. We visited on a Monday in October when you'd think things were quietening down but the place was heaving - couldn't get a seat immediately. Just popped in a for a drink - didn't eat but the food looked pretty good.

Perhaps because it was a raucous Saturday night with lots of young people from the adjoining hostel having fun, that the kitchen staff couldn't cope with the orders for food coming in thick and fast. My sirloin steak was over cooked and the chicken and haggis was a bit bland but it was not expensive and the waiting staff were... More

We ate at Saucy Mary's because it was close to our B & B and not much else was available. We had the Seafood Platter for two....it was good value for the money, except when you are sharing with someone and they only give you one prawn....ouch. Plenty of food to share. It was rather noisy in there once it... More

I only called in for drinks so can't comment on the food which appeared to be popular judging by the number of diners. Unfortunately the situation for dog owners is not nearly so good; I was rather begrudgingly allowed to stay in a small area by the door but it was far from ideal. Later I discovered that the pub... Had the lasagna with a salad since I had fish and chips somewhere else the night before. Brown salad leaves, gummy pasta.
