When we visited the Contented Soul we took the dog, the proprietary put down a dish of water for the dog and made him really welcome so we then enjoyed a fine meal.

Found ourselves in Eyemouth on a bright and breezy winter's Sunday and called in to the Contented Sole for lunch. Restaurant is upstairs and resembled a tearoom with bar. A wee bit tired looking, but it's off-season and nothing a lick of paint won't fix. And it was spotlessly clean. Tasty steak pie served with proper chips ad fresh veg... More

Called on Sunday and had a couple of drinks in the bar before moving upstairs for food in the lounge. Bar full of locals for the football on t.v. Really good pint of Belhavens, and a good atmosphere in the bar. The lounge was upstairs up a winding tight staircase. The food was good with my wife having the Sunday... More

Every thing on the menu is good and home cooked. The bar has more atmosphere but may not be to everyone's taste, but if you are disabled you won't get up the stairs to the restaurant.

Very friendly place - unpretentious - good value - excellent food. I ordered the half portion seafood platter and it was just the right amount. Fish perfectly battered, generous helping of prawns, piping hot chunky chips.

The modest menu included a great selection of fresh seafood as one might expect in a fishing port. The staff were friendly and welcoming and other, friendly patrons added to a lovely evening. I would certainly recommend the seafood chowder as a starter!

Just stopped at this pub as raining outside and it was great in the snug bar. Snacks on the bar like the good old days, great barmaid "who loves men in uniform " and excellently kept Old Speckled Hen. Spent a couple of hours in there chatting to locals and watching a bit of horse racing and listening to the... More
