Just walking Beale St and came upon the Tap Room. Good music, friendly bar crowd and priced reasonable. No cover.

In this age of enforced "tolerance" to all manner of things, smoking in a BAR is not always tolerated. Couple the smoker-friendly atmosphere with a full bar and live blues, you have an extremely authentic albeit hazy, dark, authentic environment perfectly suited for those who are curious about the "Real Beale Street".

Music was good. The crown and Ginger was expensive but I wasn't in the mood for the $5 beer. I liked the mug display. We will walk to another bar. It's located well since we only have a couple of hours.

Great music for free the night we stopped in. That said, the beer selection was average for a place that calls itself 'tap room'. Check it out, judge for yourself.

Cool little place to stop for a beer. They have a unique display of mugs on the wall behind the bar.

We ended up here on a Monday night, attracted to it from reviews labeling it as a dive bar. It certainly was! I've read that it can get quite lively here on the weekend with a band etc - none of this happened on a Monday night. It was us, another patron, and the bartender. Very nice guy (can't remember... My friend and I have visited the Tap Room two years in a row and have been pleasantly surprised both times by the quality of live music available. No cover charge - walk in and sit down. Beer reasonably priced. We'll be back!

Stopped here for some happy hour beers...great prices and had our favorite Yeungling beer that we cant get back home. Not many people when we were there which was good as the bar could get very smokey as the night went on.

Terrific band!!!! Played blues, rock, country and gospel music almost non stop. Beer is priced right and bartenders are attentive. Probably the BEST music we experienced during our stay in Memphis.

There are nicer places on Beale but something always brought me back. The house band was always playing blues and little Miss Carrie can really belt out a tune. They have an extensive beer selection and it is air conditioned. A must on those muggy Memphis nights.
