When ever we are in Memphis we have to Stop at Mortimer's for Lunch or Dinner. The Oysters are a bonus when we eat there. There isn't many things on the Menu that we haven't had in the last 15 years. So I have to say there isn't anything that is better than the other. Oysters are my draw to... More

Our group went to Mortimer's recently for some great food - and we got it. I have enjoyed the Mort Burger in the past, but decided to go with the Stuffed Burger this time. The burger I received was quite good, but it was not "stuffed" (it had Gouda cheese, but the burger had 2 separate patties instead of the... More

Location:: almost hidden Signage:: hard to see 70's style contemporary building that blends in with the neighborhood Mortimer's predecessor, The Knickerbocker, a 1955 institution owned by Vernon Bell, was the original men's-sports-club-without-a-fee. He helped his daughter Sara establish Mortimer's in 1981, using many of the same recipes. When I visit, I:: Always request my fave Server Landon Always warm up... More

French onion soup is smokey, rich, oniony, and cheesy; with home made croutons with the right touch of butter and garlic. Then came the salmon with dill sauce and a loaded baked potato. Wow! The salmon is always great and the loaded baked potato had more fixings then any other restaurant. With the bartender and m&ms from the beer cooler... More

Mortimer's has been a Memphis staple for many years. The atmosphere is casual with an upscale feel. It's a quiet place where you can enjoy talking with your party. The menu is extensive and the food is well above average. It's well worth a visit.

My husband and I went to Mortimer's with another couple last Saturday night, June 4th. My husband and I each got a dozen raw oysters (two dozen). They were very small just as they were the last time we went to Mortimer's a couple of months ago. We should have learned our lesson that time. My husband and I both... More

Great meat and three plates just like in the 80's when my fraternity brother at U if M would come here! Brought some cousins who had not been in Memphis for years and we all cleaned out plates! Chicken and dressing was very good as were the fried okra and the turnip greens. The cornbread and rolls were also hot... More

this place has changed over the years. the food is not that good as i found it to be in the past. this is more a gathering place for people who want to unwind after a hard days work. they also serve lunch and dinner but as i stated above, the food to me is sub-par.

A neighborhood restaurant with good atmosphere, service, and food. Grabbed lunch recently and went with the daily special: chicken & dressing with two sides. Comfort food! Ample portions - main dish as well as sides. Have been eating here for years - never disappointed. For golfers, check out the paintings of past Memphis PGA tournament champions - nostalgic!

We were looking for a nice place for dinner. Years ago this was just that. But now it feels more like a local bar with a dining room. The prime rib and the stuffed flounder were not so great. Won't do that again, but the burgers smelled and looked great. We will be back, but for much more casual dining.
