Don't expect fancy, but do expect good oysters, fried sides, and other assorted seafood. Buckets of beer are available for a reasonable price too. The atmosphere is very casual. You order at the front counter, sit down with a number and buzzer. When they're not busy, they'll deliver the food to you (otherwise take your number and buzzer to counter).... More

We stopped in here on a Tuesday night. Had lots of tables to choose from. Ordered at the counter. Very nice staff. Laid back. Enjoyed our food and had some fried pie and banana pudding for dessert. Kids liked all the fish on the walls.

If you're looking for a walk up, order, and sit down place with awesome food... this is your joint. We had some great beer and oysters on the half shell here. The atmosphere is relaxed and the decor is a reflection of it's southern roots. We will go back!

I got the Protein Platter with 1 trout filet and 1 red snapper fillet both grilled then 1dz peel and eat shrimp. It was more food than I thought it'd be and it was cooked perfectly. The fish was well seasoned and moist. The shrimp could've been a little spicier but a dash of Tabasco fixed that. The food came... More

Cute atmosphere. You go up to counter and order. Good was average. However the place was packed! So maybe we hit an off night. My hubby got Maui sandwich ( it was dry) I got the special for Sunday's $.75 oysters ok 1/2 she'll have had better. I got the gumbo it was good. Service was average.

Catfish and Shrimp were great, staff friendly, and a great change of pace after walking around Beale Street not knowing quite where to eat. Just turn the corner from Beale and walk towards The Peabody and there it is.

We stumbled upon this place as we wandered aimlessly around town not really knowing what we fancied. To be honest we almost walked passed as it looked kind of basic and so it turned out to be. We went in because I fancied a bit of fish and the walls intrigued me covered as they were by fish mounted on... More

Had a wonderful lunch at the flying fish recently. It is a no-frills local restaurant with a fun vibe. You stand in line to order catfish or other great soul food plates with hush puppies, beans and rice and other sides. There is no table service so you pick up your food, utensils and drinks and sit down to outstanding... More

Obviously this is a popular spot, and we expected the fish to be fantastic. Maybe some of it is. We had catfish fillets, which were thin, somewhat dry, and bland. Not nearly as good as the moist, flavorful, generous sized filets we had at another restaurant (see my review of an historic restaurant). If you want fried catfish, you have... More
