Located inside the historical coach house of the Feathers Royal Hotel is our restaurant “Osteria 1815” which specialises in Italian cuisine. We are passionate about food and our menu with Italian dishes from authentic Italian regional cuisine reflects our passion & enthusiasm for fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Look out for our signature completely home-made ravioli of the week. Or why not try our home-made Italian dolce such as Tiramisu or Panna Cotta. To complement your meal you need a nice glass of Italian wine. Our holiday at Feathers Royal

We have had two holidays at the Feathers Royal Hotel. The first was in November 2022; probably every holiday maker had gone home by now and Aberaeron was like a ghost town! Stefano and Brid did their utmost to make us feel at home. The breakfast was beautifully cooked and the breakfast buffet had everything you would require to set one up for the day. Stefano and Brid found out it was our anniversary and we were made to feel like royalty. The meal and wine were superb. We told Stefano and Brid we would be back and from 17th to 21st July we were welcomed. We had a wonderful week and sampled Italian food from Tuesday to Thursday. We felt we were back in Italy. All the Staff at Feathers Royal are so polite and helpful. The new restaurant Osteria 1815 is again a step into Italy with Stefano always there to make sure all is up to standard. We would thoroughly recommend this lovely hotel to everyone. Ann and John Hayes

Totally brilliant authentic Italian cuisine

This restraunt is a true Italian experience. The flavours of the food were unreal having travelled to Italy twice this was like eating in a restaurant in Tuscany. The owners and staff were so attentive to my wifes nut allergy it truly was perfect way to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Thank you so much Phil and sarah

The Feathers is Back!

A group fro Aberaeron 41Club met at The Feathers for a social occasion( first in 18 months) and have a meal. We were offered a two course for £20 or 3 for £25. I had a very interesting starter described as a chicken liver parfait jammy dodger. It was as interesting as it was delicious and, indeed did resemble a jammy dodger. Thumbs up from all that had the terrine. I had the fish pie as my main and it was accompanied by fried potato, cabbage, carrots and parsnip. It was very tasty and cooked to perfection. A popular main, also was the Braised Welsh Black Beef Italian. Roasted pesto infused vine tomatoes, sauté wild mushroom, shallot confit, on a bed of Home-made tagliatelle bound in bone marrow and black garlic butter. This was a stunning dish with the meat beautifully slow cooked- another triumph. There was an interesting array of desserts including a cheese board and all of us were happy with our choices. The owners have not been here long, but they have worked hard on renovations and are drawing in the locals as well as visitors. They deserve to succeed, why not call for drinks or a meal- you won’t regret it.

We have a holiday home nearby and have eaten most places in the area and was looking forward to trying this place as I love Italian food … we booked very last minute New Year’s Eve and we’re happy to get a table and they were dog friendly … the place is decorated beautifully and had a lovely open fire … we were the only people seated in the bar area as we had a dog .. so there was no atmosphere for us … I was firstly disappointed that they had no rose wine as I think it’s a pretty standard drink … the young waiter who took our order was not very friendly and was not helpful with the menu and was quite condescending when I asked a question… when our order came he had got the order wrong and bought us 2 of the same dish but we had ordered 2 different dishes as we had waited a while my husband just decided to keep the wrong order., this is my other disappointment the meals were very small it was £22 for a breaded chicken breast on a very small amount of what did taste like microwave mash … it was ok but not very filling for that price you would expect to get some veg ! … we then ordered dessert and waited about 20 mins before they then came to say they had run out of tiramisu! … I feel they should of said this as soon as we ordered not as they bring the one desert out after waiting 20 mins ! Personally I think they gave our tiramisu to another customer…. A very basic cannoli was £8 …we paid nearly £80 for 3 courses and a couple of drinks we came out hungry and got a pizza from a take away … I feel this place could be great for us as it is dog friendly but they would need to improve the service and regularly change the menu and include specials and definitely revise the prices it’s definitely very overpriced and there’s much better value and quality places to eat very close by

morning coffee

Called recently for a morning coffee following a long walk in this beautiful, picturesque seaside town. We were aware that the Feathers Royal had re opened under new management /owners so we thought that we'd call in for a coffee.Quite busy, a few tables waiting for drinks and lunch and there were about four members of staff, including the owner(we presume), serving the customers. Unfortunately we waited 10 minutes before our coffee order was taken and a further 15 minutes for the coffee to arrive! No organisation at all. When we eventually had our coffees, the coffee cups were literally half full so I had to ask for a jug of hot water.Whilst waiting for the coffees to arrive I asked if it was OK to use their toilet and was directed to the facility. Unfortunately the cleanliness of the toilet was not to the standard that you would expect of any pub/hotel/eatery.The toilet itself needed a good clean, the pedal bin was stained and the soap dispenser empty. No hand sanitizer anywhere. We just left feeling rather disappointed as we had hoped that, under new ownership, this hotel would be an asset to such a lovely town. We wish the new owners all the best and would love to return for a meal one day but I feel that they need to be far more organised and definitely need to review their cleaning procedures.

Rude waitress and 45 minute wait with no explanation

Food okay when it arrived, but dreadful service and a long 45 minute wait with no explanation. Then serving tables in the wrong order really compounded our feeling of dissatisfaction. The waitress was surly and unfriendly. Lack of organisation was absolutely apparent. When we settled the bill the comment that 'you won't be washing the dishes tonight' was so far off the mark none of us would go near the place again. A dreadful end to a lovely holiday!

This review is on behalf of my friends also. We went to dine few nights back and we were recommended by my parents who stayed in the hotel. Our friends joined us as we we booked a table for 4. We were welcomed by a lovely gentleman who have joined recently as a manager who said he is from Bangladesh. As soon as we were served starter we were approached possibly by the owner regarding the food. He seemed very stressed about the quality of food. We were warned before by parents as they stayed in summer, they were denied / ignored request of extra fan in the room for their stay. So I didn’t complain much but said the food is ok. The food was average to be true as one of my friend was Italian she was quite upset with the quality. But the desserts were good specially panna cotta. The service from the manager was professional and very good at customer service as I’m a hospitality manager myself I can tell he is very good at his work. Really pleased with service. I hope the chef will do some magic as the food was just average comparing to the price.

Wanted to like this place

We visited on the last night of our break and I’m afraid it just wasn’t good. Portion sizes are to large and lack quality. So the owner doesn’t jump on and take offence, let me clarify, which I would have also done last night had we been asked why we left most of our food. My daughter had mussels, these had not been cleaned correctly and there was still grit in there. The sauce they were cooked in had basically congealed and was massively over seasoned. My lasagne was really bland and had no depth of flavour. My wife’s risotto looked like an overflowing bowl of rice pudding. I would have been happy to explain this but while the owner did wander around tables with locals and asking the question had they enjoyed he did not come to us but neither did the waiters ask. And trust me when this much food is left you would always want to know why? Very disappointing maybe this was an off night as the service was quite chaotic, do wish you all the best for the future, love Aberaeron the locals and what the businesses are doing so best wishes going forward.

Over priced and disappointing.

Having read the reviews I was so looking forward to a fantastic meal. Unfortunately, I was left wanting. Wanting the mushrooms ravioli I ordered rather than the spinach that arrived. Wanting food - having waited for over an hour from ordering. (although on discussion with the waiter it was due to my friend having a primo course and the normal waiting time between courses was the issue) Wanting water - there mussels were over chilli'd and overpowered the whole meal. Wanting a traditional tiramisu with flavour. Wanting an pleasant dinning atmosphere and finally wanting a second job to pay for the meal. Over priced and disappointing.

Hi Kathryn, thank you for your 2-star review. Having read your review, I'm sorry that we did not meet your expectations. While we are happy to consider your criticism, allowing us to better our service and restaurant as a whole for our future customers, I would like to comment on some of the points you have brought to light. Just to clear up some confusion. When you first arrived without a reservation on a day when our restaurant was fully booked, I'm sorry that you had to wait, but we are only able to serve a certain number of people at a time, with the individuals that had reserved a table taking priority. I'm also left confused after having looked at all the reservations that we have for the next couple of months and having found no trace of the booking that you claimed to have made for 8 people in the following weeks in order to receive a table the night you had dined with us. I'm also sad to read that you feel that the waiting time for your meal was too long, with one of your party of 2 having ordered a Primo that took about 20 minutes to cook and prepare from fresh and taking 20 minutes to eat, I can understand why it felt like hours had passed by the time your main course had come out. Just to elaborate, we are not a fast food chain, but if you are looking for a meal to be served within 10 minutes, please contact us! We would love to direct you to the nearest one. I'm also sorry that our traditional authentic Italian food was not up to your standards, but seeing as you don't like waiting for your food, I'm sure the amount of fast food Italian cuisine you have had has altered your idea of authentic Italian food. For your last comment on the price of the meal I am left confused, as our menu clearly states the prices of each item, seeing as your party consisted of one 3-course meal, one 2-course meal and drinks, I'm intrigued as to how much you expected your total to have come to. I'm also left intrigued as to why you ordered a dessert if you consider what you had eaten beforehand as 'overpriced.' We are sorry if your acquired taste for mass-produced and cheaply sold food only bearing a pale resemblance to the real Italian McCoy stopped you from appreciating the right economic value of labour-intense, freshly prepared dishes. And please no, don't take a second job. :-) Again, we are sorry that we didn't meet the standard that you were expecting. But thanks for the Review! Cerian

10/10. What amazing food! Delicious and fresh. The owner and staff were friendly and helpful, we thoroughly enjoyed the food and wines and are looking forward to returning before our holiday ends. I had salmon as a main meal and it was cooked to perfection and the creamed potatoes and sweet braised peppers were a great combination. The food was so good, we had to try the desserts (which we wouldn’t normally do) and they certainly didn’t disappoint … Diolch yn fawr

Why do you only get served a thimble of custard. I never knew it was so expensive it has to be rationed.

Lovely setting. Friendly staff but very slow service considering how quiet the place was. Having waited for some time to order, our main courses took some time to arrive. However both main courses of fish and turkey and gammon pie were good. We then were asked if we would like desserts. We were given menus but after 15 minutes we had to go to the bar to order as no one had come to take our order. There was again a delay in getting desserts resulting in my partner getting hers first and then my own turning up some time later. Really disappointed with desserts. Apple and strawberry crumble. The crumble was virtually non existent and barely covered half the dish and then to cap it of, a thimble of custard that barely covered a quarter of the dish. It was a real let down having been recommended this venue by our holiday hosts.

We’d heard good things about the food and went with my partner for my birthday and wasn’t disappointed. We had a lovely night, delicious, high quality authentic Italian cuisine in lovely surroundings and knowledgeable and attentive service. Will definitely be going again!

What a little gem we found here.

We arrived in Aberaeron on Monday afternoon and made our way into the town to find somewhere nice to eat but that proved to be very difficult as most places were either closed or fully booked. It was hard enough trying to find somewhere just to have a drink. We ended up in the Castel Hotel but informed the place was closing at 6pm however one helpful member of staff recommended we try the Feathers Royal Hotel just up the road. So we made our way there and we are very glad we did. We were greeted by Brid who extended a very warm but unfortunately the kitchen was closed as they were introducing a new chef and a new menu the following day. For many years I have passed this hotel and noticed it had been closed a very long time. It was now a very pleasant surprise to see how much work has been done to this place and how wonderful it was looking. We booked a table for the following evening. The menu was well planned and balanced with a range of delights to satisfy most peoples palates. local produce was very evident. The service was wonderful. We enjoyed so much we booked again for the next evening which was as good as the first. The food was excellent value for money compared with other restaurants around the area offering similar menus. We are already looking forward to visiting again in the not to distant future. Keep up the good work Brid and Steffano you should be very proud of what you have achieved so far.

Just Fantastic, authentic Italian food, great menu beautifully presented.

We had a table of 8 people, food was beautifully presented, authentic and delicious. Service was attentive, and we were made to feel welcome and looked after. The menu is very authentic Italian, but with good description of each dish. Between the 8 of us we had everything from Salmon, Chicken, Pork and pasta….all delicious…and the Bruschetta starters were a favorite with everyone. Very well priced for high-quality Italian food.

Slow start but great finish with excellent food

The premises are nice, well decorated, clean, comfortable. Service warmed up and by the end of the evening was very good and convivial. Food was a step up from the usual Italian fare with generous portions and flavourful. Will definitely be returning.
