My youngest son, his friend and I called in for a drink having walked up the magnificent Cader Idris, food is only available for residents but it was no matter as we were thirsty rather than hungry. We enjoyed a chat with the charming landlords in the cosy bar and then took our drinks outside and admired the wonderful view... More

We missed our visit to this lovely area last year due to family commitments , so it was with great pleasure that we were back . You would find it hard to get a lovelier place to engulf yourself in nature ,and to have the small hidden away gwernan inn ( hotel ) to warm you up is a big... More

This place is an absolute must if you want to escape from it all. Beautiful contemporary but also retaining its original charm and character. Food is unbelievable, go for dinner if you are staying down in the town, you wont be sorry but do phone and book ahead.

Dolgellau is limited for eating out in the evening. If you are staying in the hotel i recommend eating here also as it is far superior to anything else on offer in the area. You will not be disappointed as it is freshly cooked and tastes good.

We had the most wonderful time at this hotel. Location is perfect wonderful scenery. The hotel itself is spotlessly clean, all the comforts you could wish for. Breakfast cooked to perfection, we had dinner on 2 occasions absolutely splendid. The lovely couple who run the hotel are so kind and helpful. We cannot wait to go back. Cathy and Stephen... More

We stayed at Gwesty Gwernan for three delightful days. The rooms are lovely and very comfortable; the food at breakfast and dinner was terrific; and the hosts were great: friendly, thoughtful, and endlessly helpful. We'll return - often, I hope.

What a great place. No matter if you walked rode ran or drove you will be glad you came. Book to avoid disappointment. Great beer and wine. Food is really simple and good as it should be. Fair price for quality and service. The hotel rooms loom great too but we weren't staying. This is best place within 30 miles... More

Such a nice place, what a shame the expectation of a well earnt pint after coming down off the hills is met with such a dour-faced welcome. Probably one of the grumpiest landlords in Wales. Good beer though.

I walked up the couple of miles from Dolgellau to enjoy a real fine ale in the old, stone-walled, rustic bar and luckily, was able to book a table at the restaurant for that very evening. I had dined there two years previously with a group of walkers I had brought over with me from Spain AND THEY ARE STILL RAVING... More

I find it difficult to believe that the reviews I have read relate to this pub/hotel ! I have visited the Gwernan on several occasions in recent months, looking to eat their lunch dinner menu. On each occasion both me and my friend/s have been met with an uneasy reaction from the husband/wife team, who seem unable or willing to... More
