we were looking forward to going here after hearing so much about it - the interior is great - roaring fires and comfy sofas to rest on after eating if you would like - the meal though was a little bit of a let down - plenty of it but not to the standard of "on the hill" or "grill... More

Before my husband and I visited Ruthin, I researched a good pub to eat and have a drink and came across this. We walked to it (took about 20 mins from Ruthin Castle Hotel) and it was so worth it! We walked in and were greeted like walking into someone's home which was really refreshing! The gent who (I think?)... More

This is our third or fourth time dining here and once again the food and service were exceptionally good. A warm welcome with friendly staff, excellent menu choice from nibbles to the full roast. We had two courses with wine and found it all to be tasty, well presented and of a high standard, restaurant food at pub prices. Would... More

Went with friends for Sunday lunch, were met with a warm welcome. The service was excellent and the food as good as anywhere I've eaten. Probably the best lunch in recent times at a reasonable price in a great venue. I had a ham hock terrine starter followed by a roast lamb main, both delicious. By all accounts the black... More

First time at this pub. Visited whilst staying with family locally. I can imagine that parking can be a challenge here as the pub has no car park of its own. Best park in the nearby lay-by, if there's space. Alternatively, it's on the side of the road I'm afraid. Nevertheless, once inside the decor is bright, fresh and welcoming... More

This stunning, 16th century public house has been at the heart of Llanfwrog life for several centuries, having served travellers and locals on the outskirts of the beautiful medieval market town of Ruthin for nearly 500 years. Our historic Grade II listed building has recently undergone a major refurbishment, bringing the inn and the facilities on offer up to date without losing any of the charm and character that have made it such an enduring and enchanting feature of the picturesque Vale of Clwyd for hundreds of years. We also have a brand new beer garden with 6 individual patios, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. The bar itself offers a fantastic selection of draft beers and lagers - including locally produced ales from the renowned Buzzard Brewery - while our impressive wine list has been hand-picked for us by our very own wine importer.
