We had two nights at this hotel, the staff were lovely and food in the hotel and in the pizzeria attached was excellent and used fresh local produce. Our room was in need of refurbishment, which we understand is on going but it was clean and the bed very comfortable. The location is great for the Osprey centre and local... More

I've previously reviewed here and stated it's one of my favourite dining experiences. Visited again and was disappointed. Good food but very small portions. All the other tables had bread (needed to fill you up!) but we didn't. Kids meals were good value but they did charge extra for squash the menu stated was included. Very very unusual we don't... If you are looking for starched linen and smart uniforms, this is not the place for you.If, however, you are looking for an interesting menu, well cooked dishes beautifully presented with portions to suit the hungry diner, all served by a friendly welcoming team then you are in the right place. There is plenty of variety on the menu and... More

Went to Wynnstay Hotel for a birthday meal recently. The food was excellent the best tasting food I've ever had and I've been to a lot of restaurants!! I shared the mussels with my partner they were delicious and the leek sauce was very special. I then had mallard with chocolate sauce which was excellent and the chantenay carrots which... More

Very tasty authentic pizza here. It seems some people here are reviewing the pizzeria and others the restaurant which is a bit confusing as they very different and in different buildings albeit under the same Wynnstay ownership. Anyway, the much missed pizzeria is back open after having a sleep over the winter, and with a brand new pizzerola chef. A... More

Thank you for this kind review. Sadly, some people just don't like change - but we had to make changes. We learned some lessons from re-opening night and, as you say, these are being addressed. More

Food ok, not was it was previously. The young members of staff are very friendly but the older waiter with the white beard was one of the rudest front of house staff Ive ever met. Wont go back again.

Sad to read this review but wonder at the motivation. The Wynnstay has had the same head chef since 2000 and the same sous-chef for many years, so to read that the food is not as good is rather a surprise. We do not aim to be rude but reading so many other reviews that laud the "old waiter" -... More

It is a same when people do not make a comment at the time. We have a number of quality soft drinks, no need to resort to boring pub staples such as lemon and lime - which is the same anywhere. The Coke comes in a Coca Cola Icon bottle. What could go wrong. It doesn't seem that this reviewer... More

I like the feel of this hotel. Very cozy on a bleak winters night. My wife and I spent one night here and I have to say that the food was very good. We had a steak meal which was very well cooked and plenty to eat too! The staff were very helpful and polite which was nice. The room... More

Thank you for this review. Our food and general atmosphere are what drives us. Catering is theatre and we aim to get every aspect right. We agree that some of the rooms do need work. We are working on this as fast as money allows. Sadly, after the hotel closed, we had a hellish job raising funds to get it... More

Staying for 2 nights in Aberdovey we stopped for lunch here on the way, having stayed at this hotel previously a couple of times. Really old hotel and with the large restaurant now a "lounge", we had a reserved table in one of the cosey front dining rooms with a lovely log fire. Had to ask for a menu after... More

We had some very good meals at the Wynnstay. Three of the party had sirloin steaks which were cooked to perfection and had a very nice flavour in fact some of the best steaks we have had in the UK recently. The lamb and mullet were excellent as well. Overall a lovely dining experience in a convivial atmosphere with the... More

Thank you for this kind review. Those steaks came from the Welsh Champion at the Winter Fair, it is great to have them appreciated. Our new Cwtch (the lounge) is proving very popular. More
