One of the oldest pubs in England. Nice old pub. We went for lunch on the weekend but booked out. Check before you go. Food looked good. There's a beautiful lake down behind the pub also. Was frozen over when we went. Enjoy.

When you go to a place that bears the title "The oldest Pub in England" or something similar you half expect overpriced tourist fayre. Taking a friend here for a Birthday Lunch, the one thing I did remember from a previous visit was that the bear was good. I couldnt quite remember how to get there, but with a bit... More

Visited here with friends and sorry to say i would not go back for Sunday lunch, long wait for food to arrive, which was not a major issue as we could see they were busy, but when food did arrive, it was barely warm, potatoes were overcooked and hard, 3 of our party had the chicken (inc young kids) and... Love the charm and history this quaint little pub holds. It has received a Guinness book of records award for being Britain's oldest pub (current building was built in 1599 after floods damaged previous building) and has a great beer garden area as well as cosy seating indoors right near fireplace. Ceilings are low (less than 6ft) in places which... More

1/2 of meat options served "pink". Pork = all fat & string! No desserts we liked. Children hated it.

Title says it all. If you like real British pubs with proper food and wide range of ale this is the place to go. Even better than their standard menu are the bbqs that they put on at the weekend. Cant praise this place enough

If you come to St. Albans you must go here. It's quirky and very old and they've really upped their game with the food over the past 18 months. We have eaten here a few time and it's always good pub food. The service is very friendly too.

Came here early on in the year. Had a couple of beers- local brewery but has a small beer garden on a raised area with splendid views over the Arnside bay area. Just has a feel of old fashioned to it and maybe not quiet up to speed. Only drank here so no input re meals. On my visit was... More

The pub is fabulous a real typical pub I'm st Albans and a great place for a pint when you need a break form sight seeing. The ales on offer are all good and the service is top notch. We did not eat but we did see food going to the tables that looked very appealing and heard no complaints... More
