My parents took me here after they recently moved to Abingdon, we went for Sunday lunch and it was wonderful. The quality of food is excellent and the menu is varied and seasonal. They have a great wine selection and friendly staff. The interior of the pub is also a spectacle with wonderful beams and a medival/modern theme. Abingdon and... More

We've been many times over the years, and it's always good. This time it was "game night" which was fabulous. The amuse bouche was more like another small starter - goose-based. "Game Tea" followed by Venison was very original and tasted delicious. We also had English cheeses to follow. The service was impeccable (as usual) and it's a wonderful ambiance... More

Thank you for the fabulous review! The White Hart is an old 15th century Chantry and delights the eye with original beams, flagstone floors and soaring eaves. We put a lot of effort into what we do - from goring and planting in the kitchen garden, to the food we cook and the service we give - so I am... More

Stunning building, impeccable service and great food. Great choice of beer at a good price which was welcome after a walk before lunch. Mushroom starter was absolutely outstanding. The Monkfish Wellington was innovative, perfectly cooked, but just slightly let down by an overpowering tarragon sauce. Blackberry and Apple Brulee was a fantastic seasonal twist on a classic flavour combination. Highly... More

I am so pleased you enjoyed your lunch with us. We are a freehouse, so ales change every time a barrel finishes, so there is always something new to try. The chefs put their heart and soul into the food they cook and always make the most of the seasonal produce local to us, so it is great to hear... More

We have been visiting the White Hart since Kay and Mark first arrived and can truthfully say we have never had a poor meal here. The signature dishes such as the salmon gravalax starter and belly pork main never fail to please but there are the seasonal and original additions from time to time: a Monkfish Wellington for example: superb.... As other reviewers have observed, it is worth it to take a Sunday drive to Oxfordshire to have lunch at The White Hart. Set in a building that dates back to the time of Henry VI, there's a crackling fire and solicitous staff to greet you. The menu on Sunday includes standard English fare such as roast beef and Yorkshire... More

Thank you for the superb review! This is just what we aim for...amazing fresh local food served in a friendly and welcoming setting! Our Sunday lunches are great - Chef roasts the beef for 10 hours at 55C to ensure it is pink and melt in the mouth tender. At £26/29 for 2/3 courses it is great value. We get... More

It's quite a drive from London for lunch, but well worth it. We have a long established tradition of meeting old friends from Stratford - upon - Avon for lunch halfway between us near Oxford and this year I happened to find the very good reviews of the White hart Sunday lunches, so off we went. All the service before... More

I am delighted to hear your wonderful feedback. We put huge effort into everything we do, so I am really glad to see it makes a difference. The Sunday roast is amazing - I cannot even replicate Mark's beef at home! Tender, pink and juicy and can be cut with a fork! Puddings are also superb - our pastry chef... More

Description
A mere seven miles from the centre of Oxford, in the picturesque village of Fyfield, The White Hart is the ultimate country pub and restaurant. It is a stunning former chantry house dating back to the 15th century, boasting many original features. With soaring eaves in the Great Hall and Minstrel's Gallery, a roaring log fire in winter and pretty terrace bursting with flowers and aromatic herbs in summer, The White Hart is not only cosily beautiful but offers a warm, village welcome too. With a passion for provenance, the kitchen grows much of the restaurant's fruit and vegetables in a large kitchen garden and also sources food from the very best local suppliers. Even bread, pasta and ice cream is homemade fresh on site. Frequently changing, the menus rely purely on what is fresh and available, ensuring food which delivers on every level. No wonder they hold 2 AA Rosettes for culinary excellence!
