Nice, casual atmosphere. We were on a road trip and looking for some good, southern bbq. We buy Chappell Hill sausage at our local grocer regularly, but had never stopped at their restaurant. The jalapeno sausage was delicious with just the right amount of spice. The brisket was tasty with a perfect smoke ring. The ribs were tasty, but not... More

Great eats at this place, big selection of deserts also, and fresh meat to pick from. My Mom recommended it while passing going down hwy 290 to Killeen and I'm glad I did stop in.

I visited Chappell Hill on a recent visit to Texas. Stopping for dinner at the Chappell Hill Bakery & Deli was one of the highlights of my trip. From the throwback furnishings to the outstanding food, the dinner was an unbelievable success! I had a barbecue plate, while others in my party had chicken and even a kids meal. The... More

Have stopped here a few times over the past few years when traveling from Austin to Houston. BBQ is on the good side of average, but not great. BUT - their homemade bread adds some points to their scorecard. Sides are pretty good, and lots of variety. BBQ sauce not so good. None of our party of five cared for... More

Great BBQ of every kind: beef, pork, sausage, chicken along with a huge bakery and a nice size shop with fresh jams, sauces, and packaged food. You can't go wrong with a place that serves Blue Bell Ice Cream.

some of the best barbeque we have recently eaten. The beef was great and the price most reasonable. A fine selection of pies and fresh local beef to cook at home!

Stopped in on the way down from Austin to Houston and really enjoyed the whole experience. The staff was friendly and the food was great. We specifically enjoyed spicy mac n' cheese w/a sliced BBQ beef sandwich. It's definitely worth a stop and much better than going to a fast food restaurant.

This is a Great Place to stop along highway 290. The family has been in the restaurant and meat market for over 50 years. Quality Meats Make Good Barbecue and that is What They Use. Wonderful Bakery with Kolaches, Bread, Pies etc.

This is a meat market so the menu items are fresh. They have the largest 'burgers I have seen -- enough for two --with, of course, French fries. Their chicken-fried steak sandwich is also very good. Lots of kitschy, Texas ceramic souvenirs (or for your own Texas-style décor) -- a fun place and very friendly.

What a delightful place! Friendly, great food, and not just kolaches. But burgers, steaks, good full hearty meals! Delicious homemade pies!!
