Stopped in on a whim for a late breakfast and ordered tacos and a small bowl of pozole. The tacos were quite filling but it seemed that a) the filling had been slightly reheated and b) even with that they weren't hot. The small pozole was actually much larger than we expected. It was adequate. There's an smoke amount of... More

This is not fancy food. This IS the place for great breakfast tacos and also lunch tacos on homemade tortillas. We have been eating here for over 20 years and have moved away from Denton. Joe still remembers us, including my (now grown) daughter's name. Her significant other is from San Antonio and really liked it, too. Treat yourself!

My niece and I entered the Casa Galaviz Restaurant, for the first time and were greeted by Joe and his wife Bethy. We had been craving breakfast tacos, so we googled "breakfast tacos" and this was the place on top of the list. We decided to order 4 breakfast tacos and share, because it was hard to decide what we... More

I loved their tortillas and tacos. The coffee is decent and the owner tries to remember your name. It was highly recommended and did not disappoint. You can take your time and just relax here. The only problem is when they run out of tortillas, they close up the shop and it doesn’t matter what time that occurs.

I moved to the DFW area from South Texas about 6 years ago and have been on the search for a great breakfast taco. It's taken me 6 years but I found them! I now drive out of my way so I can eat their handmade tortillas with carne guisada. Anytime I hear of someone visiting Denton I tell them... More

I have been eating tacos at Casa Galaviz for 20 years at least. They are fresh and excellent, especially because of the homemade tortillas. Joe is friendly and remembers people. We now have three generations of my family going there. It is decorated well enough, but I go there for the food. And it doesn't hurt that Ravelin Bakery is... More

Near downtown and the U. of North Texas, Casa Galaviz does a very small number of things very well. They make tacos (beef, barbacoa, carnitas, chicken), tamales, various plates. The cooler has an array of Mexican soft-drinks. Most days they also have my absolute favorite, delicious pozole, a savory pork soup served with a garnish of pico de gallo and... More
