Cheap price, pretty good food. Love the beef fajitas. Their chili con queso is not that great and will not be getting it again but I will come back for the cheese enchiladas and the fajitas.

My husband and son were ready for a margarita. We had been driving for a few hours and just getting into town to visit. Thought we would stop for a rest and a drink. We love to sit at the bar when we are not eating BUT this was a smoking area. Needless to say we sat at a table... More

I'm a purist & Mexican who was raised in this area. This is true traditional Mexican food, no fusion of anything but wonderful flavors. If you are in this area, this is the place you want. Great food!

Food was tasty, we ordered the shrimp enchiladas and had a couple of margaritas, was pretty good. Interior was clean an inviting. It is a little off the beaten track, still on the 1960 but back in the lot. I was impressed with the hand carved wood bar. They have a smoking section if this is your thing. I would... More

We've been eating at this location (FM1960) for about 30 years and have never had a bad meal or experience. The food and service has always been great. The Tostada Imperial, the Stuffed Avocado, the Fajitas, Cheese Enchiladas and their combination dinners are the best we've ever had. Great Salsa and Margaritas too! When we try a new Mexican restaurant,... More

We have been patrons of El Imperial for 30 years. We've moved from that area, but occasionally we get the opportunity to visit our old haunt. When we arrived, I recognized familiar faces in the wait staff, so my expectations of good food and service were high. First, I noticed the hot sauce tasted like spaghetti sauce. The chips were... We have moved away from the Houston area but have enjoyed eating at El Imperial Mexican Restaurant for may decades. The FM 1960 location has become our preference for consistently good Mexican food, though we have been visiting them since previous locations many years ago. While we don't eat there often since our move, they remain a constant source of... More

Wow. Have been going to this restaurant consistantly since they opened early 80's and some of the staff that has been with them over the years. Met a friend for lunch...ordered shrimp enchiladas. The beans were dry, very little shrimp in the enchiladas. I was very disappointed especially when I got the bill for 11.99. The friend ordered the Cancun... More
