I'm happy to report that El Buen Pescador is back after an absence of several months, just re-opened at a new Port Isabel location (in the small strip in front of Walmart, between Subway and Wings). Bright new interior, same great food, same great prices,...and most of the same friendly staff as before. As the name implies, the fish is always good; we love the Fish Tacos, fried, but can also be grilled or blackened. As well as Fish and Shrimp, they have a lot of other mexican dishes and daily specials, as well as all-you-can-eat plates for those that are really hungry. If you have missed it, time to go back, and if you have not been there before, give it a try, I think you will like it. One of our favorite places in PI.More
I hesitated going here because it looks a little "divey", but what they lack in ambience they make up for with the food. I had the best el pastor street tacos ever! Delicious! I will go back when visiting the area again.
My family and I have been coming here since 2012. In all that time the value with the seafood, cost comparison and humble appearance made the expenditure worth it. Now in 2022, after not dining inside in many years I invited a friend to this...place and was disgustingly disappointed. Food was good as always, BUT the place has had NO up keep since at least 2012. Holes in chairs walls inside and out decrepit/dirty along with floors and bathroom disgusting. I do not mind humble settings, but the owners of this establishment demand payment in cash only yet DO NOT put one penny back into the business to make this place a little more than a dump to eat at. It was SO bad inside around 7pm of the day to find that the live ROACHES were casually walking around floor amongst the floor next to us with no fear of anything. The ROACHES were invited guests as we were. I was disgusted and equally insulted to pay for $80 for 2 adults and 2 kids dishes in such a disgusting place. NEVER AGAIN will I go or recommend. The owners of this place should be ashamed.More
We stopped in and ordered chicken fajita plate and Mexican enchilada plate to go. The place was small looked like a family owned type of place. The waitress was very nice and explained the menu to me. The food was very good and the price...was reasonable.More
My wife snd I ate here for dinner and thoroughly enjoyed it. The all you can eat fish and shrimp was very good. We tried the fried, grilled, and blackened. My favorite is the grilled. My wife liked the blackend. The decor is older, but...is clean. All orders were cooked to order which added a little to the wait time. Well worth the stop.More
Excellent Mexican food full of favors. Great service too. It’s a no frills restaurant, but we didn’t care. I thought the meals were reasonably priced too,
While vacationing at South Padre Island the week of Feruary 8th, we stumbled across this little place. Outward appearances would say - don't eat there- but we tried it anyway! The ionside was lackluster, but hostess/waitress was pleasnt and helpful. We ordered a fisf basket...and enchiladas. My wifes fish (6 pieces for $6.50)was fried to a perfect golden brown and delicious. My enchiladas were as good as anywhere else I had ate! We both had sweet tea that had just a hint of lemon in ti- very good! Definitely a place to eat at, regardless of the appearancesMore
This is our favorite restaurant when we come to South Padres. We always make sure to bring any family and friends who come to visit us in February. 5 stars
This was great authentic Tex-Mex!! The guacamole was fresh and very tasty. The verde sauce was just right & added a punch to the cheese enchiladas. Highly recommend this place!!
Went to it for lunch (a waiter at another restaurant had recommended for breakfast) while on vacation at SPI. It's an older building with small amount of employees (which helps keep prices low). Was told food was great but service was not. We went on...a weekday around 11am so had no problem with service. Had one of the specials of the day, enchiladas suizas. Enchiladas in a tangy, flavorful green sauce and tons of cheese with rice and delicious refried beans on the side for only $5.99. Will definitely stop by next time my family is back to SPI!More
We had a wonderful fish dinner at El Buen Pescador (translates as ‘The Good Fisherman’). We had the grilled garlic fillets. They were very moist, tasty and delicious. Plentiful food at reasonable prices. The restaurant is always full with locals so you know the food...is authentic. The servers are courteous, friendly and hard working. It is one of the top seafood restaurants in the area.More
Restaurant recommended by relative, doesn't look like much, pretty average. Most reviews complained about sevice but I thought we received very good service. Food was average at best, I had all you could eat fish and shrimp and one round was all I cared for....Would probably had a refill if better, but wife had burritos and said they were very good.More
I stopped here on my way back to the BRO airport after a trip to the island...Mistake... After taking my AYCE order/ delivering, never saw my server again. No drink refill-- nothing. I finally flagged down another server to ask for more food. The place...wasn't busy mid-day. The food quality was good, the service sucked. There are several other choices in the area for seafood--- Off the re-visit list!More
Service here has always been lousy here, perhaps because its always late when we get there, they look tired and drained by then. Nevertheless, its hard to beat their All-You-Can-Eat fish and shrimp platters!!!
