Arrived on Saturday to eat. Place was small on the inside. They do have outdoor seating with signs up saying they are going to build a bigger venue. I would caution heavily on the fact that they charge by the pound on meat and do not have specific plates. I ordered turkey, which really did not stand out differently than... More

I eat BBQ or steak daily and Hay's is truly the best. I drive form Schertz to eat there. Always clean, friendly Team and the best flavors if you like open pit smoke and pepper :) All meats are great, no fat in beans and the flavors make you drive there again :) Live bands on Saturdays when warm outside...James

Super cool atmosphere. We came here because it was ranked 2nd on Trip Advisor, but have found better BBQ elsewhere. The prices are very good for the amount of food, but we can't say we will be back. Despite not going when they have a band playing, the atmosphere was really fun!

Went there around 7:30 with an hour and half left and they were out of a few things. A bit disappointed in that. Overall good place that will have you leaving with lots of leftovers.

FIVE STAR TEXAS BBQ -Hays County BBQ in San Marcos, TX serves perfectly oak-smoked melt-in-your-mouth brisket, delicious home-made 60/40 beef/pork sausage (try the cheddar jalapeño!) and classic racks of ribs. Super sides of coleslaw, potato salad, charro beans and two home-made sauces - spicy and sweet. It was truly charcoal charred on the outside and contest winner scrumptious inside. Master... More

The Central Texas triangle of San Marcos, Luling, and Lockhart contains some of the best BBQ anywhere, and in this triangle, Hays County BBQ is among the best. We had their brisket, ribs, sausage, and pork chops. The meat was juicy and the sauce was spicey and flavorful. (We did not taste the chicken or any of the sides, but... More

My wife and I were at the hotel and craving BBQ. I looked at the map and noticed Hays County was nearby and had great reviews. My wife and I decided to get the chopped beef sandwich and potato salad. When I arrived I was greeted with a smile and friendly service at the counter. The potato salad is already... More

fantastic food, the sausages really steal the show here, among other awesome things are the ribs, the beef ribs, brisket etc... the sides are also quite good and they have a fridge with fresh Avocados and other vegetables to pair with your barbecue, which is a nice twist, don't normally see that.

Thank Brett C
